You know what...Disturbed is pretty cool

There's a lot of good pop music out there! I dunno, if you really listen to some of that Kelly Clarkson stuff there's so many layers of orchestration and harmony and it can be really interesting, plus it's super light, fun and catchy so it's a nice change of pace once in a while

I'm a massive Sarah McLachlan fan as well! But at the end of the day if I was stranded on a desert island and had to choose between Kelly Clarkson and Suffocation, it's not a very challenging choice

Uhhh, YEAH! I don't think spooning / slipping a roofie to the dudes in Suffocation would be very pleasurable.

Sooooo....

If you have to be stranded on an island, bring both.

Suffocation fer teh br00tulz, and Kelly Clarkson fer teh luvins.

:kickass:

IMO, the real true metal elite are the guys that can listen to everything from Behemoth to Paramore and appreciate it all in equal measures. Not the kids that listen to Burzum and proclaim anything with nicer production is "false."

Abso-fucking-lutely. I'm really tired of the whole "if it isn't underground black/death metal, it's not real metal" bullshit.

I remember seeing them at Ozzfest 01. They were probably the best live band on that whole line-up. They sounded fucking AWESOME... And the performance was great too. They really pulled the entire crowd in.

I think they took a wrong turn when adding solos. Though I haven't checked out any of their new stuff. Only heard the first 2 albums. So I don't know how often they put solos in the songs.

Here you go dudes, I just tabbed out all of their albums for you:

-------------------------|-------------|
-------------------------|-------------|
-------------------------|-------------|
-------------------------|--10----0--|
--------------------------|--8-----0--|
--0-1-0---0-1-0-1-0--|--8-----0--|

:D

They're kinda fun to listen to every now and again I guess. Quite liked the first album when it came out. I think David Draiman is an egomaniac who takes himself way to seriously for someone that splits his vocals between singing and his impression of a zoo.

I really dig Disturbed's song "Remember", though I'm under the impression that aside from the intro riff it isn't particularly representative of their typical sound, wot with mostly un-shouted vocals and mostly non-chunkachunka single note guitar lines. Does that make it their ballad?

You're welcome Marcus ha. Being that my middle school and early high school years fed off the nu-metal vibe, Disturbed has always been a staple in my music library. I agree with that nostalgia bit as well, I get chills sometimes during certain songs because they bring back good old memories. Nothing makes me happier than listening to "Droppin' plates" (if you have not REALLY...and I mean REALLY listened to that song yet, your life is not complete) and trying to determine whether to laugh, cry, or break plates.

......oh, and ftw, How Do Drop Plates On My Ass ¯\(°_o)/¯?

I remember seeing one of their DVDs and thinking Draiman was probably the most creepy douchebag to ever walk the planet.

Seeing as you're UK based, I'm guessing you mean Milton Keynes right? In which case you remember it very differently to me - my only memory of their set is David Draiman getting pelted with bottles, then whinging about it, and then getting the chance to act out that scene from 300 with the arrows

I've only heard one vaguely recent song, and it wasn't too bad. It's the kind of thing that gets people jigging about at clubs, but not something that takes much listening, if you see what I mean.

Yeah Disturbed used to be pretty decent until every single time I turn my radio on that fucking "The Night" song is on every 10 minutes

makes me want to PRY MY EYES OUT WOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWO

and yes the vocals are definitely old.

K I get the King Lear reference, but prying your eyes out won't do shit about hearing that song on the radio.
