7. Davide Piovesan (Ephel Duath)

10. Alex Arellano (Power of Omens)

Since he said metal drummers I couldn't include Neil Peart or Tim Alexander, even though both have been semi-metallic at times.

Edit: I can't believe I forgot Brann Dailor!! Fixed.

I may be missing something, but since when is Neil Peart a metal drummer?
Anyway, my list is as follows (in no particular order):
Gene Hoglan
Sean Reinert
Richard Christy
Danny Carey
Tony Laureno (something like that)
Yes three of them were drummers for Death, so what? :p
And Danny Carey is Tool's drummer.

i always considered rush to be progressive metal. an amazing band. red barchetta is a perfect example. its ironic that bands now have an upwards of 5 members, and still cant reach the sonic level rush achieves
in a totally unrelated topic, do you guys think that if psh went on tour, that van can sing and play at the same time? i was wondering that myself. he's godly both lyrically and as a drummer, and it would be awesome to see

in no real order, some of my favorites:

nick barker(dimmu)
dainel erlandsson(sp?)(arch enemy)
flo morunier(cryptopsy)
derek roddy(hate eternal)
tony laureno(nile)
dave mcclain(machine head)
jaska raatikainen(children of bodom)
van williams(nevermore)

if you had been paying attention, you would have noticed that he said he couldn't include him... i hate it when people don't read the posts right.

uhh, personally I enjoy Van Williams' work, mostly his more recent work.
I really, REALLY like thomas stauch (blind guardian).
I dig what portnoy does, even though he showboats alot.
nick menza....i think that's his name, Rust In Peace...awesome work
cliver burr always seemed to grab my attention in the 1st couple of maiden albums

nick menza was amazing with 'deth. he released a solo albumn not too long ago which was rated a 1 out of 10 in bwbk. i guess he should stick to drums. he did EVERY instrument on the albumn. and amazing musician.
stauch is amazing as well. after "when sorrow sang" i was convinced -I-

i think nightfall convinced me of stauch's coolness

he just had this rythm, during the chorus....i couldn't/can't fucking airdrum to it...

My list for metal drummers in no particular order.
Van Williams
Vinney Paul
Dave Lombardo
Richard Christy
Arch Enemy' drummer

Btw, I don't think that Rush qualifies as metal. It's just great kick ass prog rock. Rush is the Prog band of choice to most metal heads including mysleft. Peart is a drumming god.
