Since this forum doesn't have too much traffic I thought I might aswell see what kinda screamers you guys like. And who knows we might share some previously unknown screamers to each other.

Please explain your choices.

I'll go first. This is my top 4:

1. Chester Bennington - Linkin Park
He has the ability to transform so much energy and feeling trough his screams and the tone is something different. You can hear like 3 voices at the same time when this dude screams.

Sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLHpvjrFpe0&feature=player_detailpage#t=121s

2. Danny Worsnop - Asking Alexandria
Danny has somewhat similiar high screams as Chester but with a bit more coreish. Anyhow I just simply love how Danny's highs are so powerful and his lows sound so brutal. And when those two are layered on top of each other It's simply magic.

3. Alex Koehler - Chelsea Grin
Danny and Alex are almost in the same spot in my list but I'll go with this setup. I absolutely love those highs. So intense I instantly feel more energetic. And those lows are so low :D I love that.

4. Mitch Lucker - Suicide Silence
Kinda similiar to Alex but Alex wins in the terms of range. But Mitch's highs have a special feel to them. Always making me jizz my pants. (No homo;))

So there you go.
Remember you don't have to like the bands the screamer is in. We're not talking about bands now. We're talking about the loud mouths.

EDIT: I added samples to my list with timecodes so yo can hear their voices right away

Not so into them... I actually enjoyed them before seeing them live, especially for Mitch Lucker, who wasn't so great :/

I'm so with you for Chester and Danny though.

Austin Charlie

You mean Austin Carlile I guess? ;)

---

For when it gets to me:

1- Phil Bozeman - Whitechapel
I'm a fanboy, please shoot me at will.
I don't think I really need to put up a link for this one.

2- Matt Paquette - Beheading of a King
RIP to this guy though... He recorded his band's EP then died at the age of 20, before the EP even got out...

Here's an excerpt, "Quasar" ft. Alex Erian (Despised Icon)

3- Mikko Kotamäki - Swallow the Sun
Brings me back 4 years ago when I was playing and composing in my death/doom metal band. This guy makes me crap my pants each time I hear him. One of the most powerful growls IMO.

These Hours of Despair - Swallow the Sun

4- Alex Leblanc - Neuraxis
Ok, ok. Not the best vocal on earth, but I had to mention him as he's the fucking craziest motherfucking frontman I've ever seen.

Darkness Prevails - Neuraxis

On the top of my head, I don't remember any more, but there's a shitload I love. Scream/growl is an art, and some really nails it.

Yeah I know there's people who are not that into these vocalists. But for me those two are absolute cream. I have noticed that Mitch's voice has gotten a little worse compared to their old records. Especially in the upcoming album. Almost no lows at all. Just highs and mids. Or maybe he is trying out something different. And mitch seems good live.

Yeah his highs get stuffed at times but that doesn't bother me. It's live.

I might aswell add my number 5 to make the top list more of a standard one.

5. Chris Fronzak - Attila
His highs sound kinda like a goblin to me but still not too much to be comedy :D And I absolutely love those hollow low growls.

I'm going to go one step more old school than you guys:

2 - Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk + others)

3 - Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual)

4 - Robb Flynn (Machine Head, Vio-Lence)

5 - Max Cavalera (Sepultura, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy)

6 - Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour)

7 - Aleksi Laiho (Children of Bodom, Sinergy, Kylähullut)

8 - Arto Tuunela (Major Label, Pariisin Kevät)

3. Jake Luhrs

eh....
He got better on leveler from what I can tell but he's definitely the weak point of the band musically
Nicest dude ever though.
