If you will , can you give some oppions on the band

Dimmu Borgir I have just started to listen to them , they are not bad , but i wanna hear some oppions on your favirote songs , and albums...

Plz Give some thoughts

Iam startig to get into them :)

Decent but far from essential. One of the more mainstream blackmetal-related acts (I think they're still somewhat black metallish, but others disagree) along with Cradle of Filth (which is much more gothic and theatrical). I think they get slagged a bit too much by more conservative types, and I definitely like some of their songs, but I don't think their music is particularly noteworthy or original.

Arrrrrhhhhh....Dimmu Borgir It's amazing band! I heard everything from their releases, but old stuff is not good for me! But "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" 2001 album is the best creation that i ever heard ! When i was listen to it once , it was just takeover in my mind, i never heard something like that creation!! Everyone must to listen to it!

Dimmu Borgir is the best black-metal band that i ever heard!

I have heard mostly their latest released (haven't been able to check Stormblast or For All Tid yet) and while they are good at what they're doing, I find them boring. If you like the style (melodic/symphonic black metal with lost of keyboards), then they're one of the bands you surely have to check. I also believe that the bashing towards them is a bit extreme and is caused mostly by the fact that they a very well selling band. Their best album is probably Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, but I also heard their first albums, while more primitive, are also very good. As I said before their music doesn't really suit my tastes but there is one point that's making me like them. They have Simen Hestnaes a singer and he's one of the best in black metal.

Stormblast is definitely one of their best albums, tho i was blown away by EDT and PEM myself...
I tend to find them more related to Black Metal than anything else, and they do earn much more respect than Cradle of Filth (and rightly so). They have been accused of 'selling out', because PEM went Gold (the laughs i hear when i mention that in here in the states :D ), but overall, I think they've stayed pretty hard....

The only problem i find with them is what my friend and I have dubbed "the fact that there are only 15 black metal musicians in the world, and they all want bands with each other".... that is to say, bands like dimmu have shared influences with others like The Kovenant and Arcturus (which far exceeds the sum of its parts), and so I usually find it necessary to listen to all of these offspring....but thats the beauty of audiogalaxy and a cable modem :)

If you wind up liking Dimmu, maybe you might move on to heavier stuff, like Emperor.....

Very good thoughts , thank you :D

@Kovenant84 , Dimmu Borgir , iam starting to like indeed , but i have the newist Emperor Cd and it has a few good tunes , iam not very much into Emperor's Voclas , but their guitar work and Perciussion Strike me as very good. The funny thing is iam NOT a big fan of black metal but iam really enjoying Dimmu Borgir

BTW where are they from?

Get these songs:

Mourning Palace
Spellbound (by the devil)
In Death's Embrace
A Succubus In Rapture

..right off of the "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" album..
nice signature btw :)

nerver found them THAT interesting...and I was really sorry when I was told their basist is no other than ICS Vortex, who sings incredibly....now spoilt, just playing the bass!!!!!! :waaaaaah:

@father....dude...he still sings :) ..... he does all the backup vocals, and i must say they are quite cool...... i saw them in concert here in February....he sounds EXACTLY like he does on the cds...its ridiculous.....

wait... im sensing that he was in other bands....which ones?...i must hear
