Your Dream Setlist for DT?

it would be fantastic if they played Of Chaos and Eternal Night and Away Delight Away or Midway through Infinity or Zodijackyl Light (without keyboards)!!!! so well... actually btw i think that the keyboards should not be played in every song!!!!!! I mean, IMO the songs without keyboards on the records should be played as they originally were, without being unrespectful of Martin B whos a great musician! :worship:
its just that imo Hedon or Punish or Insanity lack of pathos with keyboards...:ill:

I disagree. I don't like all the live arrangements of old songs (Hedon does not work as well as it used to, for example), but many songs sound a lot better to my ear with the added keyboards. Zodijackyl Light is a perfect example - I dislike the song on album, but it sounds great live, largely due to Brändström's touch on it.

As for dream setlists, I can't really make one, but there are several great songs I haven't seen live and would like to see at least once. I'll divide them into two categories, the first has all the (semi-)realistic picks of mine that could perhaps be played on their next tour; the second has some of those songs they haven't played in several years - or ever.

Realistic:
-Edenspring (hasn't really been played in years, but I think it could fit their current set quite well)
-...Of Melancholy Burning (an old favorite, played last time on the Projector-tour, I believe)
-Insanity's Crescendo (they've never played it when I've been in the audience)
-To a Bitter Halt (hasn't been in their set for a while, but as the clean vocals are now back it could make a comeback as well)
-Rundown (dropped off their regular set way too soon)
-Hours Passed in Exile (my favorite from Damage Done and they never played it when I was there)
-Senses Tied (has to be great live)

Unrealistic:
-Crimson Winds
-A Bolt of Blazing Gold
-Through Ebony Archways
-With the Flaming Shades of Fall
-Silence, and the Firmament Withdrew
-The Gallery
-Shadowlit Facade
-Still Moving Sinews
-Tidal Tantrum
-Nether Novas

And the one super-unrealistic: Shadow Duet.

-Villain

The last thing I want is Anders Frieden to be there singing and people in the crowd chanting "IN FLAMES IN FLAMES" and then having fans ask DT members stupid IF questions after the show.

OK, so now my dream setlist. Actually, this is my "realistic" dream setlist that I think they could do live if they wanted to (them playing 25-45 songs in one set is too much, by the second half of such a set they'd be pretty damn tired. Although they did play 19 songs on the Krakow stop of the Damage Done tour).

1. Zodijackyl Light
2. the Lesser Faith
3. The Emptiness From Which I Fed
4. Static
5. Out of Nothing
6. Inside the Particle Storm
7. Fabric
8. Of Chaos and Eternal Night
9. Lethe (with the bass intro!!)
10. Monochromatic Stains
11. Edenspring
12. Razorfever
13. Nothing to No One
14. Away, Delight, Away
15. White Noise, Black Silence
16. Still Moving Sinews
17. At a Loss for Words
18. the Mundane and the Magic (with a female vocalist)
19. On Your Time

True, true. How would you lay it out? One album per day? Two?

~kov.
I'd lay it out one album per day, maybe with an EP or a couple of covers on that day too. Exposures would get their separate day. Then a couple of extra days at the end for the encore, so people could get to hear their most favourite songs.

Opening bands are optional, if i'd add that to the bill i'd make it so the openers are bands that DT themselves would enjoy seeing.

This is more a "private festival" kind of fantasy, the point would be to enjoy our favourite band and hang out with them for days in a nice huge place. If i'm ever ridiculously rich, you're all invited. :p

Thats a great setlist! Id replace Zodijackyl and Mundane by Blind at Heart (what an opener) and Nether Novas. Otherwise perfect for me.

Thanks it took me about half an hour to create. I accept your amendments as friendly.

Before the next tour starts (I'm a big fan of long term planning) I'd like to try to get a consensus on the board or start a petition that basically asks DT to choose a setlist of a bunch of tracks that they haven't played live before or haven't played too recently. That was how I produced the setlist above.

Or, I could sit and listen to the entire Fiction album as one set, plus some old Mind's I/Gallery/Of Chaos thrown in the mix. It's such a great album.

Well, it certainly wasnt meant unfriendly. :) I completely disagree with your political orientation (as I come from a post-socialist country), but that doesnt mean I am going to scorn every post you make. That setlist pretty much sums up what Id like to hear from DT live. Lets see how your consensus/petition idea turns out - you have my support.
