Ziltoid the Omniscient is fantastic

Gareth, the first album I heard from Devin Townsend was back in 2003 when I just saw it in a local store, I heard the first two songs and had to buy it. Accelerated Evolution, buy it! ^^ Great album, the first time I got into Devin (apart from SYL ofc)

Of all the DT/DTB stuff I've heard, Accelerated Evolution is my favorite, as it's the least annoyingly drawn out and plodding IMO (Ziltoid is close, but it still has its moments that could have benefitted from trimming IMO, esp. the ends of Solar Winds and Color your World)

Of the SYL stuff, it's Alien > The New Black > SYL > City for me (haven't heard anything else, don't really have much interest to :goggly: )

Well SYL wise mine probably goes Alien > City > The New Black > SYL > Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing.

All I have to say is that Alien FUCKING OWNS EVERYTHING!

Meh, something being a classic means absolutely nothing to me, and I find a lot of it to be too crazy/wacky/noisy/whatever; the only songs I really like are "All Hail the New Flesh" and "AAA"

My favourite album from Devin (if I absolutely had to pick just one) is Terria. Amazing songs! Followed by either Synchestra, Accelerated Evolution, and Ocean Machine. The music is so... euphoric!

Dodo, you don't get a 'first' Townsend album - you get all of them, play them simultaneously, sew up the new assholes you've been ripped, and don't leave the stereo until you know them all backwards and forwards.

That is a fucking order.

Jeff

City is prolly my fave SYL album by far, but the original SYL - SYL first song off of heavy as a heavy is the ultimate! And if underneath the waves doesn't rush you like a methed up hobo you're dead inside. Hmm that makes me wanna listen to some arch enemy...

Meh, lot's of people like Underneath the Waves, but it just really doesn't do much for me, too crazy/raw. Now Skeksis or Shitstorm on the other hand - there's no comparison, they just kill it IMO! :notworthy
