ZILTOID!!!

in the booklet it says "drums and support provided by fredrik thordenal."

Does that mean he actually played those insane double bass fills in that second track? if so i think i just got a new hero.

a little bit of research and it turns out he's one of the guitarists from meshuggah and all the drums are actually programmed. bastards.

We all knew for a long time that the drums were all programmed. That's old news duder.

Yeah, he used "The Drumkit From Hell" (or something like that). The samples of that kit were made by Meshuggah, the drummer propably.

[Note: They didn't make Drumkit From Hell for this Devin Townsend (or should I say DT :P) album. The kit was made already before and I guess DT just asked if he could just it]

On the downside: Devin's stopping with touring, SYL, the Devin Townsend Band, and basically being a frontman. He wants to spend the rest of his days producing stuff for money, and occasionally creating solo stuff.

:( XXXL.

Still, if the rest of his solo shit is gonna be anywhere near Ziltoid, it'll still be awesome. Ziltoid is 3 parts of DTB, 2 parts of SYL, 2 parts of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, 1 part of cheesy 50's sci-fi, and a dash of Monty Python. I fucking love it.

I picked up the album today and it's quite the listen alright! Also picked up Pyramaze - Legend of the Bone Carver but didn't much care for it as I was too awestuck by Ziltoid. It's too bad Devin's done with Strapping Young Lad but I'm sure it's for the better.
