To anyone who knows what the loudness war is or is interested in it, if you've never heard of the "Turn Me Up!" organization before (I only literally just now stumbled across it), I think you will be as happy as I was to see that an effort like this is underway.

To people that have no idea what I'm talking about, I present you with a few essential readings on the topic and one very short, concise video.

Imperfect Sound Forever
The Death of High Fidelity
...and, of course, Wikipedia is always a wonderful information tool...

Hey, Perdido, those of us who've been here a while have been through this before, in epic, emotion-filled threads. This organizaton is new to me, though, and there seem to be lots of new memebers who may not be familiar with those threads. My suggestion would be to do a search for loudness wars in this forum. This thread is good for discussion of Turn Me Up, though.

I definitely recall at least one thread awhile back on the loudness war on this forum. I think the Turn Me Up site is still in the process of becoming better known though and I definitely think it deserves a thread, even if it doesn't go too far.

Oooh! When I finally finish my CD I'll have to get that certification, it appears to be free? though that would be a bit surprising...

Anyway, have been a big loudness hater since, well, forever. Bookmarked the page, I'll have to look more into what they do later, thanks for the link.
