Hey guys,

I've been working on a mixtest featuring my bandmate's Ibanez RGA 8-string guitar. What do you think?

(or dropbox if you'd rather: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/790683/RGA8 clip final.mp3)

The guitar has Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat pickups, and the tone is coming direct from my Axe-FX Ultra, though I am using Redwirez cab impulses.
Drums are S2.0 New York Vol.2 for the snare and toms, Metal Foundry for everything else.

Sounds good dude, very meshuggah'ry!

Also, its off topic but how did you find playing that 8 string? I've had serious GAS for it, but I don't want to get and save up for a guitar that doesn't play right lol

Wicked.
I think the guitar has potential, unfortunately my bandmate goes for much heavier strings than I do, which makes it harder for me to judge. It's worth knowing that the stock pickups are trash, literally the muddiest pickups I've ever heard, so you will most probably need to factor in the cost of a new set.

Dude. What kick are you using? And what are you doing to it? I love it.

nolly thordendal ;-)
we have the rga8 here too, but i have to say it feels very cheap compared to th rg2228.
i have to say even the emg 808 sound shit compared to our bareknuckles..
yeah and the stock rga8 piuckups are absolutely useless...

but i like the rhythm tone in your clip, which one of the redwirez did you use?
