Resurrected Power Metal Thread

Damn you, you beat me. I just gave them their own thread, this album deserves it big time.

I just stumbled across the band Helion Prime today. What an absolute pleasant surprise! I'm usually a hard sell on female fronted bands, but this metal chick (Heather Michele) has power, melody and a soft touch when called for. Fantastic voice. Musically - sheesh, I want to describe it as Ayreon meets Lost Horizon; well written songs and great playing, powerful. They have their own thing going on while still playing off what has come before them. This is my personal idea of what it takes for an album to standout in a very crowded space.

I will be shocked if this doesn't end up in my top 5 for the year (I bought the album and got the instant digital download on their bandcamp page). There's no filler on this album, all kick ass tunes. I won't know until I can read the liner notes/lyrics, but I think this is a concept album, or if anything, a tightly knit space theme.

i hope you all agree and buy the album if you like it! Let me know what you think, or if you have a better comparison to describe their sound leave it below.

Haven't been here in a while...

So the Blackwelder album Survival of the Fittest is awesome. I say that a lot about a lot of albums (because I find lots of albums awesome :)) but I want to emphasize this one. It really, really shines...solid power/heavy metal with amazing vocals from Ralph Scheepers. Great stuff.

Also awesome is the new Starborn EP...

This should be out soon, it's going to be a good one I think.

As I am working my way through my pile with nearly 200 unlistened CDs I am discovering new bands for me.
E.g. I never cared for Serenity but "Fallen Sanctuary" is pretty fantastic and has some of the best Refrains since Imaginations from the other side.
AND they are from Austria.
So we have at least one worldclass Footballer (Alaba), one worldclass Tennis Player (Thiem) and one worldclass Power/Symphonic Metal band.

Some others I stumbled across recently which might not be known that well:

And maybe the best News 2016: Symphonity will release a new Album this fall with Olaf Hayer!

That Psycrence album is so good. I agree completely about Serenity - Fallen Sanctuary - brilliant album but the rest of their discog is pretty bad.

You should check out the new Lanfear album. Some amazing songs on there.

I've always found Keepers pt 2 far superior to pt 1. I'm a big fan of Weiki's songwriting. Especially on recent years, even though he only seems to write about 2 songs per album anymore.

And to anyone who likes the Keeper albums but not the Deris stuff, I recommend listening to the albums Gambling With The Devil and Straight Out of Hell. There's some real classic Helloween style power metal on those records, just with more of a punch. They're still doing essentially the same thing they did on the Keepers but with more variety.
