I need HELP!!! Snare sample issues

Alright, I am currently working on a one man extreme (black/death) metal project. This is all being done in my apartment so i am relying on various drum samples to create the desired effect in the drum department. So far I am content with almost everything I've found (except for......the...

    First mix (Doom style clip)

I appreciate the input Mili. I have literally been agonizing over finding a decent snare sample, I think I found a good one but as you stated I need to figure out a good way to give it some life. Also been spending alot of time trying to find the best guitar tones (whether they're from amp...

New metal song. Rate my sound.

Ia make this short and sweet, It sounds GREAT. Drum sounds are killer, drums are killer vocals got some good attitude. Very nice indeed.

    Trying out RedWirez Mesa 4x12

I personally would be happy if I could get to close to any of those drum or guitar sounds. Not a HUGE difference between the guitar sounds but if given the choice I think the combo sounds the best.

    Noob's first mix

I wasn't really talking about an EQ boost, just saying that they may need to be a little bit louder in reference to the rest of the mix. Don't know what you're using for drums. If you're using samples then you might try to find a kick with a little more attack/click to it.

    Pod HD300 Iced Earth Cover

Cool, you'll start noticing that the more you mix and eventually things will become second nature to ya.

    First attempt at Low Vox

Been my experience that the lower you go, the tougher it is to get a decent volume. If you can stay that low, stay in key and project your voice well enough then by all means go for it. Just remember that studio and live settings are gonna be a huge difference. Sounds good though.

    Pod HD300 Iced Earth Cover

Overall it sounds very good, guitars have a good tone and are crisp and clean. drums are decent, one thing I noticed is that the snare itself sounds kind of strange. Can't really hear the kicks (in this type of music you'd like to have em up a bit more to emphasize the rhythm of the piece...

Improving guitar tone and drum mix

Other than needing a bass to round out the mix I think the only thing that I would do differently is dial back the cymbals a hair so they're not so in your face. Just nudge em down a little bit.

    rate my mix pls!

Sounds pretty damn good. Got a few small rough edges that I'm sure you'll iron out during the final mixes. It might lack a little bit in dynamics or I could be hallucinating. Overall, it's quite good for what it is.

    Rate this!

Sounds like a pretty damn good mix to me. I'd be happy to be able to post something on this level (especially considering my inexperience.)

    Trying out RedWirez Mesa 4x12

Dude, not only do I like the way it sounds, I LIKE this freakin' song. Guitars are sick (That's a GREAT freakin tone ya got there.) drums are sick.......ahhhhh yeah!!!!!!! Not much else I can say, it kills.

    Noob's first mix

I've gotta say, it's a good start. Some of the things that stood out to me is other than the double bass parts I'm having a really hard time picking out the kick drums. I would suggest bringing the kicks up in the mix (make sure they have a pretty constant volume) maybe a little more snare as...

    Scatheworn Project (Melodic Metal)

I really can't find anything to nitpick about. The song is solid, the mix seems solid. I'd be happy if I could whip up a mix like that.
