It doesn't actually matter which you do, the installers are made to update existing versions but will also do a full install. Doing an uninstall and clean out dead folders left behind is good housekeeping but there is no right and wrong way.

If it starts with "#0x" or just "0x", it is most likely the serial number. Your iLok ID is the same as the username you use to log in to your iLok.com account.
