Book of Black Earth - Horoskopus

I really dug this because the guitar sound was so thick and brutal throughout. The opening riffs of "2016" were total sludge...very cool! Great HEAVY release that mixes styles well and should appeal to many!

    Portrait - Portrait

I've been puzzling over this myself and the answer is....none! None more black!:goggly: This is a must-have!!!

    Venomous Concept - Poisonous Apple

Knocked my teeth right down my throat! For lovers of violent music and grindcore, a must!!!

Valkyrie - Man of Two Visions

I saw these young kids open a show for Slough Feg, November's Doom and more in Chicago and they blew everybody away. Much better than what passes for "retro" or "stoner" metal today...

Hail of Bullets - Of Frost And War

Totally agree and even more. As a fan of Asphyx and old Swedish death, there's no way I could say no to these guys. The real deal!:kickass:

HORSE The Band - A Natural Death

The only thing I get from exposure to this is an extreme case of nausea followed by the drizzling shits. Some of the most unlistenable stuff I have ever heard...:Puke:

    Metallica - Death Magnetic

I enjoyed the album. It doesn't touch their first three, but it is no embarassment. I wonder how different metal history would have been if this would have been the follow-up to "And Justice For All..":u-huh:

    Grave - Dominion VIII

I am thrilled by the murky, morbid mayhem of this album. Maybe not a technical feast for all the kiddies who love Brain Drill, etc, but this stuff has gloomy atmosphere and catchy riffs galore. Old style Swedish death metal is having a good year...:kickass:

The Rotted – Get Dead or Die Trying

I liked the album. Wouldn't say it was the greatest thing since the aluminum beer can, but I enjoyed it. It seems much more distinct and individual than the old material, which was frankly very juvenile. The songs stood out a bit more, though admittedly they are not as frantic. The Manson...

    Devian – Ninewinged Serpent

I have heard mixed reviews of this album, but your review sure makes it sound good to me...

    Treponem Pal – Weird Machine

Whoa, whoa, wasn't it Paul Raven who passed away? Unless I really missed something, Ted Parsons is still among the living...:hypno:

Hail of Bullets - ...Of Frost and War

I totally dig these guys. Asphyx was one of the best death metal bands ever and never really received their due...Hail of Bullets is certainly the rightful heir to Asphyx. I think they are just getting started and will only get better.:kickass:

    Scale the Summit – Monument

ABSU BLOODSTORM RIGOR MORTIS GAMMACIDE PUNCTURE and probably a ton more I forgot...

Arghoslent - Hornets of the Pogrom

"Nazi" seems to be going too far, but they sure seem to have a racial supremacy touch, if I interpret them correctly. That would put me in an uncomfortable spot, because the music is absolutely fantastic. How cult are these guys? Their Myspace page has 1 fan..."Tom"!

    Manilla Road - Voyager

Manilla Road is awesome and "Voyager" is a fine album, though I don't put it my MR top 3, which is "Mystification", "Crystal Logic" and "The Deluge". A bit more acoustic than I'm used to on Manilla stuff. I just had a long talk with Mark Shelton a couple months ago and a nicer guy you could...
