What I meant about Jacksons is most of the guitars under 1000 have Seymour Duncan Detonators on them which are kind of pieces of shit.

I wouldn't really reccomend buying a jackson for your first guitar-assuming it is?-unless its really practical in my opinion.

Well Jacksons are fun to play,I have a V but quality wise they're not that great they dont last extremely long. If you're using Musicians Friend you could probably find a nice priced SG or Ibanez.
