Which year did you start listening to Peth?

2001, I heard Benighted first, then some tracks off MAYH.

    Watershed Lyrics From Mikael

Nope, it's rhyme, says so in the code.

    What's the longest Opeth growl?

    That's the one.

    Ultimate Guitar Watershed Review

I don't tend to agree with duncang over on the Heavy Metal Society forums, nor would I agree with him there. Eh.

    What's the longest Opeth growl?

I'll point out that Mike both 10-second and 19-second growls on Katatonia's "Brave". The first is at 3:31 and the second is at 7:08. Although it's not technically in an Opeth song, they both crush anything mentioned here.

    "Burden" is fucking awesome!

I will ignore all the bullshit in this thread to point out something a friend told me - that the first half of "Burden" is like their cover of "Soldier Of Fortune", and the second half is like "Epilogue". Which is awesome because those are two of my favourite softer Opeth tracks. "Burden" is...

Death or melodic? Which one brought you to Opeth?

I was about 16 back in 2001 when I first heard Opeth and it blew me away. I had been listening to some metal, not much though - early In Flames and mid-era Metallica for the most part. I was clueless about real metal and didn't really like death metal screams, although I enjoyed the music. Then...

    MAYH Story

MAYH and Still Life don't tie together at all. Also Morningrise is not a concept album. I must say, I think Clarence has gotta be nuts - as I find MAYH easily better than Still Life! I admit that Still Life has more mature musicianship and some incredible songwriting, but I still enjoy the...

    Finally Heard Blackwater Park

BWP is a tough one for me. On the one hand I like most of the songs a lot - Harvest is one of my favourites, as are Bleak, Dirge and Drapery. But at the same time it's never gonna be in my top three Opeth albums. It's kinda like Deliverance to me - both have some GREAT songs, but as a whole...

    MAYH Story

I'm 6th_sadistic_sniper on Songmeanings, I wrote a bunch of stuff for Opeth and Still Life years ago.

    MAYH Story

Correct, the SL protagonist doesn't see God, or Death. He sees Melinda. Anyway... here's my analysis of MAYH, written a while ago, because I'm awesome like that. PROLOGUE A morning in magenta, the petals fed from the dew She held her breath for a moment, to pause off the stream Still...

    Movie about Still Life?

Thought this might be a good thread to mention that I'm possibly working with some friends to make an album-length music video for MAYH... following the story, intercut with amateur band footage when possible. Full period costumes, forest scenery, smoke machines, what-have-you.

    Opeth in todays Seattle Pi

"Black metal"? Sigh. When will the mainstream press learn to correctly identify metal bands.

    Watershed Chart Positions

Most of my metalhead friends are cheap bastards and the ones that aren't are usually grim kvlt dudes who only buy albums from online distros; so it was weird that I was one of the only two in my group of close friends to buy Watershed (since they practically ALL are Opeth fans). I guess the rest...

    The Amen Corner

It's hard to decide if this is one of the better songs on the album, simply because My Arms Your Hearse is easily the best album of all time.
