    2015 Underworld N.A. tour thread

Took my 12 year old son to the show and I do have to say that Russel was amazing. His live voice is astounding! The set was a little short but it was cool to hear them play for the first time in about 6 years (give or take). Last time I saw them was when they were touring with Devon Townsend...

What's the Sym X album you hate the most?

I can't believe any SyX fan doesn't love TDG. I agree that it is one of their best. In my opinion, it's #3 in their catalog only behind (like I need to list them) TDWOT and V.

What's the Sym X album you hate the most?

I think Accolade II is by far the best song on the album, but aside from Infero I too find The Odyssey pretty boring. I do love the intro to Incantations though, but it weakens once the verse starts. The dry production distracts me as well. But overall, I consider it a good album. Certainly...

What's the Sym X album you hate the most?

With Russel singing, and a much much better production, the 1st album would probably be a good listen. Otherwise, I'm finding it difficult to embrace the newer albums the way I did everything from TDG to Odyssey. PL was good, Iconoclast was mediocre, and Underworld to me is ok. The biggest...

    UNDERWORLD discussion thread

As much as I love his playing, I wish he would compose his solos more like he did in the past. I don't know what it is, but I don't like his guitar tone nearly as much on the last couple of albums as I did in the past. It sounds a little mushy to me. Not enough bite. Also, I keep hearing the...

    How you discovered Sym X

I was working at D'Addario strings and the AR guy knew I was into metal. So he gave me TDWOT which the band sent in looking for an endorsement deal. I took it home and was blown away within the first 30 seconds of the album. It became my favorite album at the time, and they became my favorite...

    Symphony X - Nevermore

And I really like the fact that Russ is singing as opposed to growling the lyrics. I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of the direction the band has gone over the last couple of albums, although I still consider SX to be my favorite band. I hope his vocals are an indicator of a softer, more...

First time seeing Symphony X (great day)!

That's awesome man! Glad you had a great time. It's cool you got to meet and talk to the guys. The first time I saw SX was just over 10 years ago, and I'm going to see them again on the 12th. I can't wait.

    Recently Bought Albums

I have only listened to this album a couple of times since buying it just 3 days ago, and it is growing on me. I'm not that impressed though and just found out that they didn't have the same vocalist from 'Pitch Black Progress', which I suspected upon listening to it and then confirmed online...

First song you listened to by Sym X

I was working for D'Addario strings back in the 90's and SX had sent TDWOT in to the AR guy looking for an endorsement. He knew I liked metal so he asked me to listen to it and let him know what I thought. The second the 1st verse began I knew these guys were something special, and then when...

    2008 Political debate thread

Noble, I just want to say that if I had said anything specific towards you earlier, I do apologize. I get so angry sometimes when I discuss this stuff that I can get defensive and come across as condescending, etc. Anyway, I have absolutely no hard feelings towards anyone here. That said...

    2008 Political debate thread

Absolutely. There is always a certain amount of faith you have to have in the absence of concrete evidence. But when you weigh the difference between what you hear from these sources against world events, you should end up with enough circumstantial evidence to support one theory over the...

    2008 Political debate thread

You want to be pissed off? Investigate the recent bill that Obama (yes, Obama) pushed through the Senate which MANDATES that .7% of the entire US Gross Domestic Product be sent directly to the United Nations so that they can use this money to fight world poverty. 0.7%!!! This equates to...

    2008 Political debate thread

People should bitch about it. I'm a non-smoker, and as much as I like not having to breath smoke, the fact is that this is just another example of the government stepping all over the rights of us citizens. Of course, they make it out to be a good thing, and they know that most non-smokers...

    2008 Political debate thread

The fact that the NHS in England is helping people who need it is irrelevant. The point I was making is that the US Constitution does not in any way guarantee anyone health care. Government was designed to serve humanity, and the US governments job was to leave people alone to live their lives...
