What does it matter if the "founders" of black metal have changed their views on what makes good black metal, all individuals evolve, its a part of our nature, if we don't evolve we stagnate. Black Metal will evolve whether you like it or not. And as for "becoming everything they hated"...

I wouldn't consider Burzums music brilliant (technically speaking) but it does seem to capture a truly grim atmosphere that few others have ever been able to create. It just captivates the mind and grips the emotions like no other. While I didn't put Aske in my top 10 it is a worthy mention...

Ya its been out awhile. Its amazing. Totally bizarre yet compelling. New vocalist to, he's way better than the old one.

Galder "sings" like a melodic death metal vocalist. The only thing I don't like about the new Old Mans Child album is Galders vocals. I'm glad they didn't use them for Dimmu.

Nihilism, Satanism, Depression, Suicide, Pain and suffering, Paganism, Hate, Anti-Religion, War, Evil ect.

Black Metal all the way. There's just more to it. More substance. It can hit you in so many ways. Death metals more about brutality and speed/technicallity (which is in itself good, but does get boring rather quickly)

This is a brilliant album of epic proportions. Alittle hard to get into at first but after repeated listens it really makes an impression. Yes its a progression... but I still find Enthrone Darkness Triuphant their best release.
