    Zomplain - Clouds (Free EP)

Pretty snazzy stuff, downloading now. You should tell your buddy to check out the Swedish artist "Motionfield"...absolutely top-notch material. It'd be right up his alley, i think. Also, "Life as a Mirage" is pretty badass.

Does Opeth use auto-tune in recordings?

just...wow. Nicholas D Wolfwood is right. (i love Trigun btw) The rest of you are either misinformed, or lack firsthand experience in a studio that does things the "typical" way. YES most well-versed engineers will insist on pitch correcting vocals. Most SINGERS will want to fix at least...

    The Lopez Beat

it's like a modified Bembe, which is an Afro-Cuban 6/8 pattern. He keeps the same feel as the core groove, and is playing a double-paradiddle on the ride bell.

Do you listen to more or less metal than before?

Drastically less.... circa 2000, ALL i listened to was metal (death/melodic/core, etc).. now, i'm into a fair amount of stuff- Experimental/IDM/Ambient (Boards of Canada, Eivind Aarset, Yagya, Motionfield, etc) Jazz/Fusion/Prog (everything from Focus to Mahavishnu, Jean-Luc Ponty, Hiromi's...

    Isis - Wavering Radiant

I really don't hear anything new, outside of the typical Isis formula here.... Not only that, but the production is pretty weak...it sounds like everything is overly compressed. Granted, this is within the first 5 minutes of checking the first track out, so i might change my opinion later.

Tightest rhythm section you've heard live (metal bands)

surprisingly, nobody has mentioned Intronaut or Textures yet....Intronaut especially, considering their emphasis on atypical rhythmic designs and syncopation, and the fact that their bassist is pretty much the centerpiece of the band.

EXIVIOUS - featuring members of CYNIC & TEXTURES

Great to know :) I'm a jazz musician myself (although i don't always play "jazz", i can't help but try something new every time i'm on the instrument...i'm sure you know how that is :) ) Forgive me if this sounds excessive of me, but i've listened to your track "Waves of Thought" probably 30+...

EXIVIOUS - featuring members of CYNIC & TEXTURES

this music is PERFECT....i really don't think you could have given me something more suited to my tastes. My favorite three genres- Jazz, metal and ambient, all together in perfect harmony :) I love all the enigmatic chord progressions and dreamy movements, and to top it all off, it's...

    Your favorite metal guitar sound

Textures - Silhouettes (namely, the song "Storm Warning") Novembre - The Blue just a few off the top of my head....

    Classica re-relesed by Peceville!

Just got my copy yesterday, after nearly a month of anxiously waiting! A few observations - The in-your-face drum mix is toned back a bit, which i miss....Everything seems almost drenched in reverb on this version, which makes everything a little more vague. More atmospheric, yes, but...

    Farmers Market

they're pretty good... On first listen, they're like a mix of Estradasphere, Mats Morgan band, and some weird middle-eastern stuff. definitely amazing musicianship, but some of it just isn't melodic at all.

    Mixing weed and music

I used to smoke pretty consistently back around the time that Ghost Reveries came out....Isis and Kayo Dot were AMAZING to me, at that time. I haven't smoked in over a year now, and I love being sober- i don't feel like i NEED anything in order to enjoy music. In fact, i think i enjoy it even...

    My amazing Opeth lucid dream

that's definitely a good practice to start...not only will it help you remember what you dream about, it'll kind of train your subconscious after a while to drop you back into the same dream you just awoke from. But this time, if you're able to recognize the fact that it's a dream, you can...
