    Gigantour - who's going? (2 of 2)

Looks like Chicago is the plan for now. Maybe Detroit too, but it's too soon to know if that will work for me or not.

    Where's everyone from?

I was there when they opened the Dimond Center location. Do they still have the store on Arctic and 36th? My old vocalist's sister works for Mammoth.

    Where's everyone from?

What part of Alaska are you in? I know of a couple of prog-heads up there, but get used to special-ordering your music. Sam Goody in the Dimond Center carries Dream Theater and Symphony X, but selection is sparse.

    Gigantour Setlist Survey

    1. Inferno 2. I'm going to leave this one blank since I'm not familiar with ALL of their songs.

    Keyboard solos

I love a standard grand piano sound. Most lead keyboard sounds end up sounding cheesy.

    I'm sorry to say......

I had never heard the Term "power metal" before I heard Symphony X labeled as such. What makes a band "power metal"? Symphony X sounds like neoclassical prog metal to me. In fact, the CD says "File under progressive metal". Though I've never seen a store with a progressive metal section...

Yeah, I think you picked the wrong forum to post this on...

What do Sy-X fans occupy themselves with?

I'm 21. I haven't given up on music as a career yet. I play drums, some guitar, bass, piano, trombone, and everything else. I hope to be a professional drummer in a progressive metal band. I know that even "successful" prog musicians rarely make enough just from music for a comfortable...

    HELP SPREAD THE NEWS!

If they get played on SIRIUS, more people will hear the music, more people will then buy the CDs and attend the concerts, bringing in more revenue for the band. You want Symphony X to be successful, don't you?

    How popular are Symphony X?

I have met VERY few people who have even heard of Symphony X. The one's that have are all musicians. Of course, prog isn't really popular in the US as compared to Japan and some parts of Europe.
