I am new on this forum and do not know if this has already leaked out here - thought I might run it anyway, just for the heck of it. Taken from the www.dprp.net - excellent prog-site!

"A rumour of three prog(metal) heavyweights Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) doing something together started on the Mike Portnoy forum after a fan had bumped into Åkerfeldt in Sweden. The rumour was unexpectedly quickly confirmed when Mike Portnoy himself posted the following:

"I haven't read through the rest of this thread (I'm at the airport getting ready to leave for Helsinki!) but the title caught my eye as I thought perhaps something had been leaked/announced - as myself, Mikael and Steven have already spoken several times about doing a project together.... I think it's just a matter of when at this point...."

This can indeed be the record of all time. Three major giants in prog making an album together. :headbang:

I would love to hear what they come out with. It'll be a shame if this gets leaked. I hate it when material is leaked, period.

But all three giants tend to have their own style of writing. Combine all three? Man, I can't wait for this to happen if it does. Joygasm o_O

Wow, Mikael and two vastly overrated musicians! Talented, sure, but I don't like either of their bands or styles very much, and there is much better music out there!

Yeah, this snippet of news has already been posted. Not sure where it was though.

I don't know. Mikael and Steve, yeah sure. Portnoy? Hmm. Should be interesting, whatever it is that comes out.

I think I'll be pleasantly surprised. It'll definetly be something different. I'm definetly open to new things. Can't wait to see what unfolds. It'll definetly be a while of course. Opeth has a tour and all and DT needs to continue to support Octavarium.

I wonder whether they'll just take what they 'do best' and fuse it, or actually try and do something different for all of them.. I'd be lying if i said i wasn't intrigued! I love all three of the guys .. get the feeling it'll be pretty weird lol

Someone's gonna have to change style or this is going to be one weirdo-sounding release!

^ hasn't heard any of Porcupine Tree's, or Opeth's for that matter, albums since SW and Akerfeldt started collaborating.

Portnoy I could care less about, but SW and Akerfeldt should make this an amazing listen.

All i mean is that if Portnoy drums as obnoxiously as he does on DT's albums that I've heard (never mind the live dvd), it wouldn't go too well with the style Mike and Steven would probably go for!
