I've heard that Portnoy's work in Trans-Atlantic or whatever that side project of his is called sucked. I never actually listened to an entire song all the way though but anyone want to make any recommendations or comments.

Transatlantic is ages better than Dream Theater's more recent albums (6 Degrees... to Octavarium)

I/W, Awake, SFAM were great discs. After that, they sort of lost it.

I think Portnoy is talented enough to play any style, any speed, any flavor if he wants to, and it will probably depend on the input of the other musicians. I will be looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

i'd like to see him play Jazz or Black Metal, because he never has. Clearly he can handle prog, and fusion, but If we're getting more of him, i'd like to see something new.
