15 years later, Iron Maiden finally to return to Australia...

From IronMaiden.com: "In an historic first, Iron Maiden, their 60-strong crew and support staff and over 12 tons of equipment will be travelling around the world en masse for the first leg of the tour in a specially commissioned and converted Astraeus Boeing 757 decorated with Maiden and Eddie designs! Vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who is a qualified Airline Captain flying for Astraeus Airlines, will pilot the plane on its epic mission, flying over 50,000 miles."

So, let me get this straight... We're letting the lead singer fly the entire band and crew? In a 757? I don't care how good his flying experience is, I would make sure a rested full-time pilot was on hand to do nothing but fly the plane, sleep, and receive daily blow jobs from Playboy centerfolds (just to make sure he's happy). Maybe that's just me - but I want my lead singer doing nothing but lead singing.

i have to disagree. the x factor was a very different and cool maiden album

Funny, I consider myself a pretty big Maiden fan (have been since POM), and I have TRIED to listen to Blayze, I want to like it, but I just can't. He sounds terrible to me, and I can't figure out how Harry ever thought he was good enough. I mean, it didn't have to be Bruce II, or even Paul II, but good God! He sounds consistently flat to me, and when you combine that with his vibrato...:Puke:

No doubt, there were some good tunes: Sign of the Cross immediately comes to mind. But once the singing starts, it requires too much work to tune it out. Bruce's version of SotC on Rock in Rio is pretty damn good, though.

maiden is not a topic to horse around with
Agreed.

I think they've reached a level of musical maturity in the past few years that few (if any) other bands have been able to reach. Since the day Brave New World was released it has been my favourite Maiden album, and one of my top 5 albums of all time.

I think the only bad albums they've released were DOD (not at all a bad album, but the title track was pure Stonehenge, and the cover ... :Puke: Still can't get over it. Makes it hard to take seriously) and Virtual XI.

The X Factor was brilliant. It was much darker than anything they've done before. Sign of the Cross and the Edge of Darkness are classics as far as I'm concerned.

Blaze's voice fits much better with his solo stuff. I've nothing against him. He just wasn't right for Maiden. But no one could be as right for Maiden as Bruce.

And I'm sure Bruce will have no problems flying the band around. The man must have some freakish, advanced form of ADHD. He just doesn't sit still. Between Maiden, his solo stuff, fencing, writing two books and a film, flying, cycling, presenting two radio shows, and appearing on several tv programs ... he'll probably be bored just touring and flying!

Fanboy rant over. Sorry.
