154 musicians pick the best albums of the year

Sorry Blakkheim, great list and stuff, but... the best of this article is definitely the picture of the girl from Epica. It looks like she is... well, you know.

She must be the hottest chick in Metal... EVER!

Anybody who picked their own album is pretty lame. These lists are always funny though, some pretty amazing musicians listen to some pretty amazing crap.

are they?
I know that i make music not to please others, but because i like it,
And the music i make is the kind of music i would like to hear,
ergo, the recordings i have made are what i´d like to hear,
and if noone else makes a better album than my own, then my album would be on that list..

or, just never mind, I´m just trying to start some debate :D

you have a point there Hobo, but this list supposed to show us what bands lsiten to / or what their friends are [paying hommage to their friend's album by putting their album in the list] .. and some musicians either have no friends or can't see further than their own asshole.

Actualy, no.
The title says it lists what they think is the best of -06, and if they think they are the best, then they do it right..

I'm not against musicians picking one own album, but, let's be quite honest. Bob Daisley went overboard with his list. C'mon... his Top 3 albums of 2006 were released by current/former bands of his.

Hilarious also:

Rachel Bolan - the only one voting for the lame ass new Skid Row album?

Spider One from Powerman 5000 - obviously the only one voting for his shitty own band.

i mean, like Mikael once said, if you're in a band, YOU must be the biggest fan of your own band, and i agree with that.

but, on the other hand, if Mikael put Ghost Reveries reissue on his list, would you have more or less respect for him?

The respect would be the same. But it would be much more interesting to see other people picking Ghost Reveries, as they would be unbiased.

it depends on what the extra material brings...

I like the reissue of Enemy Of God by Kreator, for instance.
