No one asked me for an intelligent answer. Therefore I was able to bitch all I want. :)
I just asked you to name your favorite Immolation album, and you failed! :) You did however, say you got Close to a World Below, but only because it was $6. How I never called you a jew, I will never know. I say we drop this whole thing, and continue the Dying Fetus discussion.

I dislike Dying Fetus because of the lack of songwriting and creativity. After you listen to a bunch of VA compilations and promos and singles and shit from new band after band after band you realize how poor music is becoming. I don't mean to stray off topic but usually when a label punches out a V/A compilation of their top bands for $8 i end up buying them. I bought a $6 double disk relapse compilation with a dying fetus song on it. To be honest it lacked all originality and any form of good song writing. If dying fetus was a cannibal corpse or 'old school deicide' clone i'd probably enjoy them more, but they follow the generic horrid songwriting of today's "brutal" death metal.

Thanks SoD, I respect that response. I still like 'em though :p

I like em.....alot. Their three cds from Purification through Violence to Destroy the Opposition are all fantastic. I don't see how they are generic. I have heard tons of old school death metal bands and Dying Fetus don't sound like they are copying anyone exactly like most bands are today. I'm not saying they are revolutionairy or completely original but they are fairly unique compared to most brutal death out there. I think alot people don't like them because othe hardcore elements in the music, which I love, and the fact that they are pretty popular, not just among death metal fans but also with alot of metalcore fans (alot of metalcore fans I have talked to all say DF is their favorite death metal band). I don't care if it's moshcore or whatever they sound good to me.

Yup.

Correction:

"Purification through violence" and "Killing on adrenaline" are both heads up DM releases. For some fucked up reason I got "Destroy the opposition" confused with "K.O.A."... :loco: I never gave "D.T.O." the time of day really, should check it out though when I get around to it... :Smug:

You'd be surprised dude. At least here in San Francisco tons of people, from stoners to emo kids, at least know who Dying Fetus is, and will listen to them as their idea of "CRAZY FUCKING DEATH METAL."

Surprisingly, I don't really have anything against Dying Fetus. They're not really my cup of tea or shot of Jack or what have you, but they're good at what they do, and are fun music for playing Halo and other such mayhem-and-explosions video games.
:err:

Yes, but they're not as famous as Cannibal Corpse. Anyways, I dont care really if a band is well known by some people I find annoying. I'm not one of those who stop listening to a band for having more mainstream fans.

I have to agree with Spirit in Black on this. When you take-in the vast spectrum of brutal and/or grinding DM, Dying Fetus are definately in the more distinctive echelon of the bands around. I think their riffs are, bar none, all kickass, and that stands-out in a genre that likes to hide non-existent riffing under constant blasts. The dual vocals aren't very common, and, well, I think the songwriting is actually strong and consistent throughout the entire discography. I have to direct naysayers to a studied listen of One Shot, One Kill, because that is a perfect example of how Dying Fetus are still composing really strong material.

Although I fear this thread is in a state of decadence and will eventually garner enough shit to warrant a lock, I do have to say that much of the dislike for Dying Fetus is unfounded. I can understand if it's a matter of taste, but the songwriting accusations seem entirely arbitrary and more like an excuse for dislike of the band. The band has hardcore influences, and if that results in what some may call 'stale songwriting,' they're missing what hardcore's about, anyway.
