1997

I always say 1995 is one of the best. Haven't thought about it for years though. I still buy albums from 1991 though, quite a bit it seems.

Good call with 1997 though. I'd say 5 of those albums are near masterpieces, and I should really give In the Woods... another shot.

lol

when i saw this thread title, my immediate though was to post a giant-ass picture of the "a deeper kind of slumber" cover

then i clicked the link and it was right there

anyway, here it is

and fucking omnio, man

one of the few albums that i can listen at any time to because it suits every mood

it's one of the only metal albums i know of that is genuinely uplifting and life-affirming without being stupid gay shit

anyway, here are some more selections for your consideration, all from my personal 1997 collection:

Weirdly I was considering what my favorite 5 year stretch of metal was... And I decided 94-99 fucking takes it over anything in the 80s even

I started listening to metal in 1982 if you count Led Zeppelin.

I am growing old. There is no wisdom in this greybeard tree.

next time think hard about me, that should do it
I found my CD-R copy from back in the RC Trading Dayz, I think Carbonized sent me this. I wonder whatever happened to him?

Not sure why I don't particularly care for this. Years ago when I first heard it I wasn't into this type of moody metal but I am these days. I think I'm digging it this time...

*thinks of Ellestin*

...yep, this is quite good. :Spin:

this is quite possibly true for me as well, it was definitely true 10 years ago

edit: i keep forgetting how you guys are a lot younger than a select few of us.

i'm almost thirty 8I

but i also got into metal pretty late i guess (i was 12)

and my first two albums were bruce dickinson's "accident of birth" and iron maiden's "powerslave"

Good start

truly

they are albums i still listen to regularly

i had ALMOST no real embarassing period where i listened to stupid shit, nearly everything i was once into (as far as metal goes) i am still into more or less

which is cool
