I know these aren't really conventional metal, but I'm just interested in how these individual sounds are attained.

Disturbed's song Prayer has more of a less pronounced bass, and it gives the impression of just a single instrument when mixed in with the guitars. The Linkin Park song feels heavier and has a larger bass sound.

In Disturbed's song, which frequencies do the bass and guitar occupy, and the same goes for Linkin Park's song.

Also, how loud should each group be? I realize that the guitars are multitracked also.

Short of pulling up an analyzer on the individual guitar and bass tracks it would next to impossible to tell you what what frequencies they occupy.

As far as setting levels goes it's the basic fundamental of mixing. Your supposed to adjust the volume, frequencies and panning based on what sounds good to your ears.

Maybe while mixing, A/B your song to another that you would like a similar sound if need be.
