There is less than 7 weeks remaining for you to submit your band for the 2009 Australian Metal Awards. If you haven't done so already make sure you download a copy of the submission form from our website.

We have updated our site and now have a gig guide available for you to post all upcoming shows. This will be the new hub for heavy metal in Australia and listing on our site will ensure that you can promote upcoming shows to a large number of metal fans.

New updates on our website include interviews with Glenn Dyson of Prime Cuts and Soundworks Touring, Simon Lucic of Musically Incorrect Radio / heavy metal columnist MAG and Dave Hayley of Psycroptic. Each of these interviews give advice on how to make it in the Australian / global metal scene.

We have a new Australian Metal Survey on our site. Make sure you take the time to fill this out and help us find out more about the Australian metal community.

Don't forget - not long until submissions close for the Metal Awards - so get yours in ASAP!

I'd love to be optimistic about this, but the boring answer is predictable. Lord will win purely for ... well, who knows what reason.

We have seen a large number of entries from all over Australia and at this stage there does not appear to be any clear favourites.

As the categories are so vast there will definately be a mixture of winners. There seems to be a large support for Psycroptic from the public but until the Judges vote we have no way of knowing who will be the overall best band.

If Lord do win any of the categories they have done so purely out of their own talent and dedication to their music.
