Hey guys, I've started building "unique" guitars on the side. I really like doing it....fun stuff:kickass: .
The biggest problem I have if finding 27" baritone bolt-on necks. Kinda tough to find.

Anyone know a solid source that would supply them ?

btw.....here is my site for my guitars...

Cant you make the neck out of alluminium too yourself ?
I remember browsing a site with guitar pictures that had necks made of marble so it looks like you don't have to limit yourself to wood.

ps.
I have a free cool design idea for you !
Make the "ribs" more human skeleton like - less perfect - more biological !

How does the tone go? I'd imagine it to be quite bright.

dude....it sounds WAYYY better than I thought. You see usually most baritones are pretty dark sounding. But the aluminum brightens it up to what i think a normal scale guitar is, plus you still retain the low end of the baritone!

Best of both worlds really!

But I can't make a neck outta aluminum, cause everything aluminum would create tuning problems because of temp. changes. Aluminum shrinks and expandes too much for a neck to be made outta it.

And Warmoth only make HUGEMONGUOS 28.625" scale necks. That's a little much for my liking.

OK then :) Explain please? I'm curious...

Being I've owned a Schecter Tribal Baritone, Deep 6 Baritone, ESP Viper Baritone, Jackson Dk27 Baritone, Ibanez AX 100 baritone, and an Ibanez MMM1 Baritone......I have a good knowledge on most modern made baritone guitars.

for instance, my preferred tuning is drop A. Playing that tuning on a wood instrument makes it appear to muddy up the low end just slightly (not saying that it is a drastic thing, most people, like yourself, won't notice) compared to playing say drop D or C on a 25.5" guitar.
Now that I've built my new baritone body made of aluminum, that same drop A tuning has more clarity than before.
It sounds like you are playing a lower tuning while still having the clarity of drop D on a 25.5" guitar.

Wood has less density, so it absorbs more frequencies than aluminum....and the human ear is more sensitive to higher frequencies than lower, and a lower tuning consists of more Low/Mid Freq. than High Freq.......do you see where this is going?

I wasn't saying aluminum doesn't sound brighter and more open, I have no experience there.

But I do know I read up on baritone guitars when I was planning to buy one... and on every forum I stumbled upon it was mentioned how much brighter and more clear baritone guitars sound because of the greater string tension caused by the larger scale.

I played 3 baritone guitars and own one myself, it's like a difference of night and day to play the 27" baritone (7 string) or my tuned down 25.5" 6 string (both tuned to B). Same string gauge, same body woods.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass here, I get the feeling you think I am. Just curious about your experience.
