I never used this channel for rythm guitars and wondered if some of you use it regularely ? M. Sneap seems to use it a lot.

I think it would need a tubescreamer to sound tight, but I have absolutely no idea of a typical EQ to bn egin with on this channel ? Cayou help a bit ?

really depends on the 5150 head and tube combo.
I've heard 5150s where the green channel sounds like a fuzzbox while others have it sound more useful than the red.
I think the red channel has a somewhat more metallic voicing to it while the green channel e.g. does seem to have a somewhat tighter lowend. I used a tubescreamer in front but can't give you tips on EQing...

I use both pretty equally, it depends on the band really. Red is slightly more modern, but sometimes you need a bit more grit and the green channel gives that.

Settings wise I'd go for something pretty similar to the red channel i.e.

Bass: 5/6
Mids:2-4
Treble: 5/6
Resonance:~9
Presence:8/9

Pre gain at about 3 or 4, with crunch and bright buttons pushed in, and using a tubescreamer. Post gain anywhere above 3 where it sounds good :)

Someone said this in the forums, I have to try that :

Settings right now are pre gain at 6.5, bright/crunch in, EQ all at 6, resonance at 7, presence at 7. All on rhythm channel. For lead, I usually roll the highs and mids back a bit.

Yeah, I mean with 5150 its hard to go wrong with settings - just have the tone controls around 12 o clock and adjust according to the player, guitar, pickup, cab, room etc and keep the resonance and prescence quite high.

I love how simple that amp is, not many knobs or switches and not much where you can go wrong with the tone.

Here is a demo track where the opening guitar is a 5150 on the ryth channel on a combo. I wish I had did the whole thing using it because the second guitar that came in is a recto and it is fizzy as hell (my fault)

Keep in mind it is standard tuned bedroom demo. Crank it because it isn't very loud.

The settings were pres 7, everything on 5, gain 7 through a 4x12 with g12-75's.

Crunch button was on.

Can't remember the settings off hand - roughly would have been what I posted up there (but on red channel), and gain on 1 or just below. Guitar was a stock PRS Custom 22 or 24......can't remember which one (my other guitarist has both). As is always to be pointed out, the tone is all in the hands - me and the other guitarist pound the fuck out of the strings.

Cab was a Mesa OS, mic was a 57 through a Mackie Onyx 800R.

I don't use the red channel for rithm at all.
I modeed the bias and it sound pretty good, my setting are:
Gain: 7
Bass: 6
Mids: 3
Treble: 6
Resonance: 7
Presence: 7

But like other guys said, It's difficult to go wrong with the setting.
I put the post gain at 4 or 5, depend by the situation.

the music sounds great. Love the guitar tone. I'm going to be working on my own project pretty soon. I'll probably try these settings out.

Does your TS have any mods? or is it Factory?
Does your 5150 have factory tubes?
