Me and a few bros are headed up to San Francisco next week to see the last show of the tour, and all I wanna know is: WHO'S COMIN' WITH ME!??!

I think you should just move to San Francisco!

I was talking to a work colleague of mine yesterday - he just moved down to Asbury Heights (sp?) and is living in a 2 bedroom apartment for $1650 a month. That is unbelievably cheap considering the rep SF has for living expenses. I assume nobody's moving to San Fran like they were back in the mid-to-late 90s? I was paying more for that in Boston back in '99.

Anyhoo, remember to take your CDs with you and get them signed. I never even considered it.

Oh and if you have a recording device, go down and record the new songs. They want people to record them so we can spread them on the web...

I would LOVE to move there, and just might within a year or so. Amazing that $1650 / month is pretty cheap for Frisco (I've seen apartments going for $4000+ / month up there :zombie: ), but it's still nearly double what I pay down here. Even though the woman and I aren't back together yet we're looking at houses anyhow, I'm trying to convince her to move up north. :dopey:

I know the CDs will be listened to several times on the way up, so they'll be with me. :kickass:

Jay, you should have told me to get your record autographed like mine (WHOOWEE!!).
See, I would have done that for you automatically, so that just goes to show how nice I am, and how meanspirited you are. :tickled:

Anyway, be sure to mention us to the band. Knowing Ali won't get you anywhere, but knowing me will get you very far. But not with the chicks.
This man speaks the truth.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when he told me. And he's 15 minutes away from downtown as well. There's gotta be something rotten in Denmark.

To be honest, one of the main reasons for us NOT living in SF has always been housing/apartment costs. But if prices are dropping like this, then sheeyat, I'd move there in a flash, and I don't even need to be downtown.

Have you read the lyrics to The Bastard yet? There was once a time when listening and reading along with lyrics at the same time was mandatory, especially for concept albums!

I would prefer to live somewhere inland from Frisco, close enough to drive there every day but far away enough to keep the costs down. Although if I had the cash I'd live in the city proper, it rules.

I'm spending today listening to all the CD-R's I've received recently (look for a thread soon).

wow, I sure dodged answering THAT question! :dopey:

This shit kicks so much ass man. Funny how I'm hesitant to buy all these lauded albums, yet I enjoy the CD-R's more than the shit I paid for.

Regarding SF housing:

As somebody that works in the finance/banking/boring world in California, I can tell you that SF is NOT getting cheaper. Prices are still escalating . . . just a little slower than the last few years.

A lot of people are moving from SF to San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Santa Barabara, etc. San Luis Obispo is starting to become more and more crowded by the week it seems. Keep in mind these people that move here are either retired or rich from something or other. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are building a house in a nice area around here.

You can probably find a place to buy for around $750,000 or so in SF . . . unless you want the ghetto. Prices are similar here in San Luis Obispo as well. I live in a 2 bed, 1.5 bath condo valued at more than $400,000. An actual house would cost me at least $650,000.

Damn, I was looking at SLO in hopes it was a bit cheaper than Frisco. Might anyway, I love the area, and it's close enough to family down here but far enough away from the idiocy of SoCal.

Is $400K your mortgage, or is that the value of the place you happen to be renting?

If I wanted to buy in North CA, and be commuting distance to San Fran, I'm still up shit creek right? I mean, it's not like Foster City or Palo Alto are any cheaper.

How does one move to Northern CA and avoid paying rent. What can I get for a $250K mortgage in other words?

$250k gets you a new heap in the dump of Riverside.

I get all that land as far as the eye can see??!

So basically, you HAVE to rent if you want to live anywhere decent. I hate renting - you get nothing back.

NAD: You can probably find a reasonable place to rent in SLO county, near the ocean for $1200/month (notice I didn't say beside the ocean). You could even buy a place for around $350,000. It won't be the nicest thing around, but it would still be well worth the money.

JayKeeley: You can't find anything within 100 miles of the ocean for $250,000. I take it you want to live in the city. San Diego would be a little cheaper than SF, but still WAY more than $250,000. Don't get discouraged, though. If you can somehow get into something in CA, the price will only appreciate from there. You just have to continually upgrade, until you find something good enough for you.

Just another reason why CA can drop into the fucking sea.

I wanna watch it go right in and down." :kickass:

Nate, that's about what I'm looking to spend really so that's cool.
