9 New Reviews: Stratovarius, Negura Bunget, Cannibal Corpse & more

Since all you guys seem to be into Negura ... the previous band that Negru and Hupogrammos Disciple were in was called MAKROTHUMIA back in 1997.

They released an 8 track CD back then all in English called the The Rit of Individuation

It is different from Negura ... more proressive and Death Metal influenced, but atmospheric like Negura.

I am curious what you guys would think ... if you are interested shoot me an email at: relu1170@hotmail.com and i'll get a copy out to you.

Yes ... was wondering what the hell that grey font was ... it is some evil spell on RC

Oh sure, I'd like to hear that. So would Erik I assume (unless he already has it). I'll shoot you an e-mail.

I got in touch with Negru via Tribalchemy at Demonichorde - I'm still trying to get the digibox version of Maiastru Sfetnic. I have the CD & packaging already, just no box! :( One day...

If I did win $1m, I would have Negura Bunget and Agalloch fly into NY for a gig at my house, and you'd all be invited. :)

Well .. Jay ... this is your lucky day as I happen to have an extra box for Maiastru ... what is that worth to you? :)

L'Amours? How about BB Kings in Manhattan. So you going to any upcoming gigs? We'll be at Slayer, Helloween, and probably the Art of Noise tour - cos just 'cos I gotta see Kreator again.

Definetelly going to Slayer ... a buddy of mine is trying to drag me to Haloween, might go but I hate that fucking band ... Kreator is also a very good possibility.

If I meet you at any of those shows, a beer (or 5) :)will do for the Maiestru cover.

I live North of the city. You can use my backyard. I even have a grim looking tree in the middle of my lawn - I think it's got some kind of bark fungi. Very tr00 indeed.

Cool. Thanks man.

Ah, but we have guest passes.

Add Goatwhore, Amon Amarth, Vader, and Nile to Kreator, and you get the Art of Noise tour. :)

Yeah we should def meet - but send that NB cover in the mail with the other CD man. I know my ass will get that shit soaked in beer at the Slayer show. Just let me know how much to paypal you - no worries.

Forget Haloween, but if you have some access to meet Slayer at the show ... I would forever bow down to you for the oportunity to meet Araya and Lombardo.

I'll see what I can do - there might be a way to get backstage via AE. However, unless I'm way off the mark here, I've heard Slayer are quite the primadonnas. They're quite unapproachable.

A vast consortium of alcoholic beverages it is then. :)

Funny you mention this .. this is from todays Blabbermouth:

ANTHRAX'S SCOTT IAN: 'We're Just Being Ourselves' - Oct. 7, 2003

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian recently told Chart Attack that unlike some of their peers, they've never felt the need to take themselves too seriously or pretend something they're not.

"What we do musically we take seriously, but who we are as people, we don't need to put on a fake front to be perceived as a metal band," he said. "Putting on that band face — acting or dressing a certain way — I don't give a shit about that. I'm just me. If I'm in a bad mood, I'm not going to sugarcoat it. I feel bad sometimes because people want to talk to me and I'm not going to be fake. We don't act in ANTHRAX — that's what set us apart in the '80s. . . For some bands it works, but certainly not us. Look at SLAYER: Tom [Araya, singer] has had a 'band face' on since they started. They have a look and attitude that works for them. If we turned around and tried to be like SLAYER tomorrow, people would be like, 'C'mon... who are you trying to kid?' They've kept that image about them for years. Meet them and they're the nicest guys but to have that unapproachable vibe is important for the music. I've had kids say they met Kerry King [SLAYER guitarist] and he was a dick. I'm like, 'Have you listened to their records? What did you want?' He's not a dick at all, but it's Kerry King from SLAYER! Is he gonna be dancing and clowning around? You have an expectation of a band and ours is to just be ourselves."
Looks like a put on for the kiddies. I think any band member if approached by psycho fans like Slayer has has, would have the same "fuck off" attitude.

Good point.

Kind of reminds me of the time when Markgugs had to interview Abbath from Immortal, but was told to fuck off for being too drunk. Then, whilst Immortal were on stage, band members from Amon Amarth were throwing beer at them from the pit during "Tyrants".

Actually, this has little to do with Slayer, but I guess the 'band face' for Immortal was to be anti-alcohol straight edgers.

In regards to the Anthrax/Slayer thing, Anthrax has almost always taken a slagging by various members of Slayer in the press. It's always been "they're cool guys, but I don't like their music."

Overall, I think he's just commenting on the fact that Anthrax has never and doesn't have to dress/pose metal to be metal. Know what I'm sayin?

Seriosuly, those guys need a break as I enjoy We've Come For You All quite a bit. They're are some really cool songs on the disc, and when cranked fucking LOUD, it shows.

"TEH" ITSELF IS TEH ROXX)RXZ!!!

I've always preferred S.O.D. to Anthrax, their songs were always too long, Metallica-style with 9 repeated verses. I haven't heard them since The Sound of White Noise though.
