A few new spins both old & new....

I'll be giving the new AC/DC a spin soon. Heard here and elsewhere it is pretty good.

I downloaded Katra from eMusic. Will put it on the iPod and check it out.

I'll have to listen to Nickelcrack. Their Top-40 offerings are :puke: but I'll try to keep an open mind and listen to the new material to see if it's any good or not.

But then again, there's the "new" Axl Rose project that comes out today, so I'll get that as well.

The new Trivium has been in full spin for me for a couple months now, and I just can't get enough of it. I prefer the mix on the new one, even though I loved the Crusade, but I think this new one tears the crusade a new asshole. I love the crusade and ascendancy, but never gave their first cd much listen. I too think they need to record a live dvd, as they do have tons of great material and I could listen and watch them play all day long, because I think they are the perfect mix of heavy/melody and they have those parts that make you want to beat somebody up, then you just want to chill and sing along.

AC/DC- Black Ice: Anyone else surprised as hell at how good this is?

Yeah...very surprised. I knew I was going to buy it anyway since AC/DC was one of the bands that got me into "heavier" music as a kid. I expected to "enjoy" Black Ice, but I didn't think it would be in the running for a spot on my Top Ten of 2008 list. While nowhere good as Back In Black, it is still the overall best album they have released since it (my personal favorite of all of their albums is still Highway To Hell, though). I've read some lackluster reviews of Black Ice, claiming it is "more of the same," but to me it sounds like they varied the formula while remaining unequivocably AC/DC. I liked it so much that I took the bait and have been rounding out my AC/DC CD collection over the past month. :headbang:

My hatred of Hinder used to be legendary due to their song "Get Stoned," which was a benchmark example of a band trying really hard to be Theory of Deadman. But what I have heard off the new album shows a band that is making a legitimate go at being the sleaze-rock band they were marketed as the first time around. At the end of the day, their uptempo songs are about having fun instead of hating their parents. Plus, my friends who have worked with them stress what humble, cool guys they are. So there are other bands out there more deserving of my hatred.
