A new Masterplan song

Yeah it does sound pretty good. Like in any change it will be a time until you forget Jorn is not here anymore and you're not listening to a weird Riot album

The album sounds even better. Personally I found this one of the weaker songs. And Mike DiMeo is an awesome vocalist. He really get the space to shine on the new album.

I guess that means somebody have the whole album already and you listened to it

I hope to be able to do the same soon :D

The only people that have the album right now are the people from the Record company and the members of Masterplan themselves. But you are right, the album is done. Now all that needs to be done is the promotion part and that can take a while.

I was present at the listening party in Hamburg last weekend. There I also Interviewed Roland, Jan and Mike Terrana from the band and Schmier from Destruction. I had a great time in Hamburg and I would love to do something like that again.

Damn Hawk, I'm so envious! You wouldn't happen to have had a portable recorder at the listening party, would you? :D
I'm so eager to hear the new stuff!
And I sincerely hope the drums won't sound as artificial as they did on their 2nd album... Sneap did a good job overall but the "overtriggered" drums are something I really hate. No wonder Kusch had been dissatisfied with the sound... ;)

One of the surprises of that weekend was that while enjoying my breakfast in my hotel Mike Terrana walked in and sat at the table next to me. When I introduced myself to him he joined me at my table.

We spoke about an hour and if there is one thing he absolutely hates its artificial drums! He ensured me that he would never ever do that in his life.

And I believe him because I saw his face when he told me that.

You can be sure that the drums on the new Masterplan album are real. :)

Well, his last 2-3 Rage recordings didn't have a very "live" sound IMO...
Sounded pretty overcompressed and triggered to me.
Maybe we misunderstood, by artificial I didn't mean programmed drum machine, I was aiming at replacing the acoustic drum sounds with samples by the use of triggers. Pretty common practice today with drums in metal (especially extreme metal). While I understand it would be tough to make drums penetrate ultra-heavy guitars of some death metal band I don't see the point with generally more dynamic music as HM is if you have a classy drummer of Kusch's caliber...

Well, after reading the above you can guess how Mike felt about that. :(

Maybe now you understand why he jumped at the chance to join Masterplan.

You are right. But I never said Masterplan used triggered drums. I only stated that Mike told me how much he hated triggered drums. All I can say is wait until you hear the new Masterplan. Then you can judge... :)
