Hope someone replies, not really posted here before. Anyway, easy. The song I'm looking for feedback on mix-wise is Burn The Red City which is at the address in my sig below. I don't know how to host it elsewhere, this isn't a hit boost thing. We are a full band but we're giving away our "pre-demos" for free while saving for a really good recording later, when our name's more out there, which means this has a drum machine and a POD, and me playing all the instruments, with Rob our vocalist singing.
I scoured this forum and the internet for tips on frequency cuts and boosts, trying to give everything a balance and making it sit sonically. This was my first time using cubase and it's been a struggle. Ultimately I am pretty pleased with the result, as it's listenable, and you can hear what's going on, but feel the vocals are a bit in and out and that I would probably start with a totally different bass tone next time, as it was overly fuzzy making it hard to get it into the mix without booming. I think i reached an ok compromise, but OK isn't good enough, in time I want to be damn good at this, so no pulling punches please!!
