A Not-quite-metal mix

Hey guys,

This is for a good friend's demo. I had to program all drums and do a fair amount of editing. Also tracked the bass myself. I'd appreciate all opinions (good, bad, neutral) on every aspect (gits, drums, bass, mix).

The guitars have that "chunky growl" that I like (I try to describe that for years and just can't come up with a decent phrase for it).
But I think the snare is too "small" ... it's barely there. It has no guts.

I feel the same way about the snare. I got to the point where I just needed to hear other peoples' reactions and thoughts. Its a combination of Andy's snare and the "Heavywood" sample that I got off the forum FTP (don't remember who its from).

Yea its definitely lacking that in your face thing and low end. I have the same problem with my mixes its either real thin or way thick but its never just in your face and powerful.

I know I'm not much help but just thought i would say i feel the same way about it.
