A word on the new Eldritch disc...

I'll explain my comment. I'm no huge fan of prog. I like some. Actually, maybe even more than that. To disagree with Milton on this point, though. I think power metal fans will sit through prog bands way more than vice versa. I've done that many times myself. And have been turned on to FREAK KITCHEN and ILLUSION SUITE to name two. If a power metal band was added instead of DARKWATER, would the positive comments still be as many? I remember having a discussion on this forum with, I believe it was Cheiron trying to tell me PPX was power heavy. Of course it was not. I just sometimes get the impression from some of the prog people on this forum that if it ain't prog, it blows. I'll be really shocked if others haven't noticed that, too. To make an example here. I used to like the Steelers quite a bit even though I'm an Eagles fan first. This guy I work with loves the fucking Steelers. He will talk to anyone endlessly about them. Man, woman, child. It doesn't matter to him. Whether you like the Steelers or not, like football or not, or even know what a football is. It got to the point that myself and a few others I work with now hate the fucking Steelers because this guy won't shut the fuck up about them.

That's fair and a true statement indeed. Hence I said "prog fans tend to ignore" power metal in general.

Maybe. It depends on the band. I'm sure there's more people in the forum who are fans of prog but can actually enjoy power metal bands than straight up nerdy, boring, lifeless prog fans.

PP X wasn't Power heavy. DSO, CM, OL, Mindflow, Fates Warning... Hello? That's half the fest already! Whoever said that was nuts. I hope it wasn't me.

True that, and I hate Prog snobs more than anything. Those are the guys who, as I said before, don't need friends of girlfriends when they have the circle of fifth's and 14/37-like time signatures.

You used the Steelers name 4 or 5 times on this paragraph. You talked so much about them that I am starting to hate the Steelers just because of you.

I don't know anyone who likes prog but not power. But then again, I don't associate myself with closeminded assholes either.

You guys can battle with all this nonsense all day long. I'm psyched that they are going back to their true roots as early Eldritch is what caused me to get into this band in the first place. I personally was not too happy with their shift in direction.

Time to REVERSE baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't fuckin wait to see these guys kill at PP this September:grin:

... Come on dude these guys were going to me my dinner break. Now I don't know what to do.

You EAT during Prog Power?

I just carbo-load at lunch, and gut it out with the occasional beer for continued sustenance.

Eating at ProgPower is... a waste of time!

I'd tried justifying missing the main two-day PP event by telling myself Eldritch wouldn't play much Headquake/El Nino material, now I hear the new album is a return to their roots :( Oh well, wasn't in the budget anyway...
