my mistake...it didn't really say to which language it translated(occidental dictionary) but it was pretty clear anyway
I thought it could be also portuguese or italian but portugese say batizar and italians say battezzare.

Yes in italian is "battezzare" comes from latin (as spanish and portugues form) "baptizare", from greek "baptizo" declination of verb "baptein" = to plunge (with reference obviously to the Gospel episode)

yeah, but it depends on the pronunciation.
If you stress the "om" you could use it this way:
"I döper dig om, du heter nu Kalle."

Normally it would be "I döper om dig, du heter nu Kalle.", but amf said, it didn't matter. that's why I asked.

I'm not sure it works the same in swedish as it does in german...you would probably be understood but that doesn't make it gramatically correct...or you might be misunderstood
that's the way i see it...
as far as i know every om in swedish is pronounced the same
