about chaos and Caotico.I was wonderin'...

I think Mikael was/is the one who's into that type of stuff.

Arch i was also thinkin' about that, cos Michael lyrics also talks about atoms and stuff but i've seen Niklas really involved into chaos stuff, starting from his nick and his webpage.and yes,Dark, he gives me the same idea but sometimes ppl can be both kind of scholar.for instance,i love art and literature and music and i've been into a humanistic school but actually i'm a chemist.

I don't have the time to delve any deeper into this now, but I must say that I have always thought it to be pretty obvious that the aforementioned schism between humanistic views (art and such) and hard-set scientific views (chaos theory etc) has always (well, especially around The Mind's I era) been one of many dualisms in the world around us that has inspired the band, particularly the lyricists Mikael and Niklas. They have always been interested in contradictions and questioning the different perceptions, it seems to me. Instead of looking at either man as a supporter of either side in this abstract struggle, I see them using the very conflict to draw inspiration from it and to form tangential views of their own. And for that they need to have quite an insight into both the realms (humanism/science) - which I think is very well represented in their lyrics (on which all this is based upon; I can't recall myself actually having discussed about these things with the guys themselves, so don't take this as the ultimate truth).

Villain,I was just wondering about the source of the manifest Niklas' interest for the chaos theory.I mean,I was wondering if he knew this theory by studying quantum mechanics or just by reading philosophy stuff.
Anyway in quantum mechanics you can't see the border between science and humanism, so i think the schism you were talking about is going to fade.I remember when I took quantum mechanic exam (in Chemistry of course):my professor said he wanted a philosophic approach even if we were talking about formulas! We hated him cos we thought he was trying to decrease our marks!!!:-/

Interesting discussion. Let us know if you talk any more to the fellas about this Villain. But yeah this dualism you speak of concerning chaos and beauty has always been evident in DT's music, IMO. Definitely one of the coolest things about the band, if ya ask me.
