Well, My name is Lord Scizzgoth (don't start laughing.. I am passing the Black Metal Phase of my Life... :p, I WILL come of age one day :) ), and i am a fan of anathema, tiamat and katatonia mostly, especially their early ages, but surely also following their nowadays endeavours.

Well I have 3 bands, one called Frozen Glare (a strange mixture of atmospheric/doom/death/black and even proggressive) which are my main band, currently passing the "i wanna die doom" phase :p

My other band is called My Fallen Fins (I write the music and lyrics for all of them) and is a melodic black metal band, with maybe some atmospheric parts. That's my "brutal" resort when I want to write "evil" so Frozen Glare (and the band following) do not get disturbed by uneeded violence :)

Finally my 3rd band is called (and that's mostly where Katatonia related subject comes into place) Tonight's Poison, deeply inspired (it IS easy to see!) by Katatonia, and are a strange mixture of doom,alternative. Mostly depending on the lyrics, and secondly on the music, this is the softer of the bands i have.

I am a keyboard player myself, but also know some guitar (but i let my guitarists do the guitar playing for me). All songs (or at least in their majority) are written by me (and more than usually on a piano) and so are the lyrics.

I think that this would be a fine way for me to enter the forums since i am new here. Shall anyone of you is interested, i will post some lyrics from my bands, so i get opinions. Especially Tonigh't Poison will intrigue you i hope...

well i will post later some lyrics, Frozen Glare are releasing their second demo this october (even though the first was never "given" to the public, because i did not like it's sound) so also look forward to it...
 
lol :p i will give you links, soon :p but first i want you to read some lyrics.. the "power" of my writing is in the lyrics first, then in the music. i spend most of the time writing lyrics, then the music to these... but i will give you full songs to listen to also, i promise.

First Tonight's Poison...

1) The Vortex That Forgot Twice

Grey pictures of the vortex that forgot to spin.
Twice once more beggining for the first time.
Paradox memories of a falling cosmos.
Unreached distances of a nova past.

A pitiful actor on his way to the Cross.

2) Tonight's Poison

Path closed, eyes melt with Sun.
Ears shut wide, tears one with dust.
Serenity a carpet to lie on.
Poison a decision to stand for,
and drink it slowly forever.
Faded day coming down on my lips.
Smoothly running on my veins.
Spinning slowly it takes me away,
this narcotic feeling of "why".
Wrecked May,
take the dust off my lips,
and bury with it the sorrowful dead.

3) The Girl, The Chair

Sitting there, the girl with the chair.
A Chariot of Death that fell in love with Life.
Standing there, the chair with the girl.
An Angel of Light that was bewitched by Night.
Suffering pressure of the manlike burden.
The overwhelming weight of stillness.
The unfelt sense of waiting for something,
that will never come.
...Waiting for something that will never come...

7) The Ice On His Eyes

Drinking silence further now.
Swimming through layers of dirty light.
Searching for a path in this forest of Black.
A sparkling dream in silent vain.
A man drowned in the tears of his light.
Lost in a forest made of illusion.
Ash and Dust on his hands.
Melt ice on his eyes.
Stained with fears forevermore.

5) World

A stupid canvas,
with stupid shapes,
and stupid colours,
all with a stupid meaning:
"You".

8) Once Filled With Beautiful Tears

Falling dusk under the same old Sun.
Undirect choices wasted on unmeant meanings.
Silence betrays my voice.
Emtyness fills my eyes,
once filled with beautiful tears.
If there was a choice, would I then throw it away?

13) Moonlight Serenade

Dance in my serenade.
Drink the moonlight deep.
Feel the beauty of the silence.
And then burn in the rage of abscence.

Oh already sixteen with...
Silk skin, sick sin and six spin...
 
3) So Far For An Angel

He had these strange wings,
He had this strange look,
He had those strange clothes,
He was an ordinary stranger.

4) Paradox?

A blue Sun glued with the red Sea.
A purple water glued with the yellow Tree.
A vibrant bride glued with the pale Me.
Nothing strange here I guess.

1) The Loss Of Sanity

Who can bear a moment of noise?
Who can fix a deeply broken soul?
Who can stand a choice of press?
Who can change a mind full of distress,
once proud and sane?

4) Slipping Away

I holded you so tight.
You were up there.
I was on the brink to fall.

But finger by finger, I was slipping away.
I think I saw it in your eyes.
This enigmatic stare like when something is unfair.
You must have seen it in my eyes.
This lost vision of a life slipping away.

5) Weak

I feel life in you.

I feel real in you.
I feel full in you.
I feel warm in you.
..I can fool noone.
I feel weak in you.
But for a while, it was soothing to lie.

There should be a title up there.
But this is not much of a concern.
We, the words down there, can't read so far.
We just stay together, one by one.
Until we are all read.

1) The Countdown To Extinction

Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four,
Three, Two, One...
...Extinct Here...

2) Beggining To Melt

In the start it was hard,
It then softened on the edges.
Beggining to melt, and dropping on the floor.
From shaped into amorphis larvae.
Solid once it was, now melt to water.
Sun is the only enemy.
 
i think your lyrics are good, but i think they surely need more work...
i mean, they are quite short...and the words are quite simple, and i can not find a good ryme in them... use more metaphors...don't go too straight...

this is a lyric from my project "awaiting the rain"

He's got a point. The lyrics are a bit short. Not asking for an epic or anything, though, but sometimes they do better if they're longer, and give better descriptions of certain things, to stress whatever point they have.
 
lol.. tonight's poison really have small "poems", plz don't ask for bigger, or i will post Frozen Glare lyrics which are relatively huge :)
well i will,
as about i music, i promise i will give you mp3s also, but just give me the time to make everything sound exactly as i want. i am a perfectionist (is that a word?) and all these bands are currently making their demo. sound is not exactly right. once everything it is as i want, you will listen first!

now about WHY the lyrics are small in tonight's poison. first there is really NOT a ryme as you spotted, that's because it is a flow of thoughts, I do not want a ryme, or a second proccess. What came into my mind, that was the ending result. It is small because in that way I wanted to keep the interest in the lyrics, over the music. And finally about grammar, typos and lack of "words wealth". Well I live in greece, my english suck, and i only get to use them through the internet. i CAN speak english, but surely not well. So i hope my english betters with time....
 
Well here I have a Frozen Glare one. I write all the lyrics. This is from our forthcoming album, Tragic Animation.

Creating Questions, Creating Answers?-Frozen Glare

He kept wondering "how" and "when".
His world opened up, to swallow him.
Swallowing him deeper, all "how's" turned to "when's"
and all "when's" turned to "why's".
The mirror he grasped and finally saw no reflection.

Are we eternally meant to be torn?
Torn the answers from our questions?
Does every "why" bind us to a falling "if"?
He then looked back for a while.

please please note, that i said frozen glare's lyrics are big whereas these song are quite small. well i selected those small, biggers will follow next time :)
