Although I listen to just about anything musically inclined, as far as the acoustic music is concerned, there are 2 people I recommend. Preston Reed is absolutely amazing. He turns an acoustic guitar into a whole band. He thumps out a beat while he plays a rhythym and lead at the same time and its all grooves! Another guy the Reed has worked with is Laurence Juber. Both are incredible but hard to find. try AcousticMusicResource.com

Oh Hell yeah Ulver rulz! I also get into Borknagar, Edge of Sanity, Carcass, Amon Amarth, In Flames, Old Man's Child, and Samael.
If there are any other bands that you know of that fit in that genre...PLEASE list some of them. I'm gettin' a little burnt out on my CD collection.

I highly recommend Empyrium for everyone who liked Ulver's Kveldssanger...........the album called "Weiland" is just perfect!

and for totally amazing accoustic stuff: Tommy Emmanuel's Only

Ulver's Kvelddsanger is atmospheric genius, same with Tenhi's Kaukan and Väre albums.

I have a few vinyls by a guitar player named David Qualey. His stuff is really good, too bad that there's nothing on the net to check out.

Justin King is purely awesome!
Check that out: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/video/guitar.php

Edit:
Empyrium sounds very interesting, too :)

Yeah, thats cool! I know another person that does that, he goes by Michael Hedges. You might know him, but I wouldn't say that its the acoustic you are looking for.

Oh yeah, and this might sound stupid... but, try out some "Days of the New", great acoustic band in my opinion. They are totally different style, but very cool. www.daysofthenew.com and if you download songs, try to get...

Days of the New - Seasons Change

You might not like it, but I really recommend it!
