Active pups internal clipping...

all my active equipped guitars internally clip before heading into the interface, thats part of the tone!!!

unless you wana go for the 18v mod to improve the headroom then theres really nothing to worry about dude!

Do you think I'm getting internal clipping then? Did you have a listen to the DI I posted?

yeah, DI or better inteface
i think loewring the volume alters the tone if im not mistaken

Yeah, turning the volume down changes the tone, it makes it thinner :(

Get a better interface that allows you reduce the input gain.

I would If I could afford to!

Sonny, looking at the waveform you have tracked it at a far too higher gain!

so i can't tell whether or not you're getting internal clipping.

You are going to have to invest in the DI route.

I'll find a snippet of a DI of mine that does the internal clipping thing

I know :( I can't control the volume though, the line 6 interface I've got won't let me!

do you own a preamp (I use a Art MP) or some kind of adjustable DI box?
Just use something like that between your guitar and the Line6 interface.
This way, you still get the "full sound" of your guitar, but don't distort the
signal in the interface.
I had the same problem with a cheap interface of a friend and my active
Seymour Duncans (not the blackouts, way older ones, forgot the name)
I just put my Art Tube Preamp before the interface and reduced the level
a bit, no clipping and it was nice to get a little tube warmth.

My old man has that preamp so I could test it out and see if that helps, it should do the job though.

Turn up the gain on the amp sim.

I have the input on my amp sim turned up to 10, and the gain is pretty high, the sound just doesn't have as much punch when you turn the guitar volume down.

Big LOL @ the words "active pups" in the thread title.
"Pups" means "fart" in German.
And "active fart internal clipping" is probably one of the funniest things I've ever heard

 I didn't know that haha

Also, i got the pickup from Germany, Thomann is the man! It came so fucking quick!

The only time I had "fart/pup" clipping , I cured it easily by lowering the offending pup with a few turns of the screwdriver .
Simple !

the internal clipping is a normal thing with active pups, running them on a 18v mod makes this less likley, but its part of thier tone. leave em to it.

if it external clipping in the amp, pre amp reduce the pre gain of the amp or the pre amp.

If you carnt do tht get a DI and run it back on a XLR this will silve the problem
