So, recently listening to A Day to Remember's Homesick, I really like the guitar tones on there. Chad gilbert from new found glory produced it but google searches don't turn up much and the only result on here is about him dating hayley williams, lol. The guitars remind me a bit of sturgis' work on the latest The Devil Wears Prada...I guess what I am asking is does anyone know about this album's production? I have read they use 6505s but you never know on an album.

Thanks!

I know that it's not Sturgis, I just meant it sounds like the tone from Sturgis' productions in that it sounds like POD or something.

Well I'm sure Adam re-amped it but Tom Denney(their old guitar player) told me they used a 6505 slaved into a 6505.

edit: also, I thought Andrew Wade produced it??

Slaved into a 6505?

And on the producer: honestly, I don't know. Wikipedia tells me Chad Gilbert and Andrew Wade, google tells me Chad and Adam D...

that's what he said. he could be lying. he didn't seem like the most up-front kind of guy. I don't really get the point of it anyway, I thought the whole purpose of slaving was to use the preamp of one amp and the poweramp of another?

I sent zing recordings an email but I'm sure they get a million tone questions a day so I'm not leaning to much on it. The guitars have a subtle fuzz to them that I really enjoy. Its most noticeable on the breakdown/chugs. I am deaf when it comes to identifying specific amps in a record but all I could compare it to is prada...thanks for all the replies so far though guys!

Almost positive it was Andrew Wade who produced it... I have friends who know him personally. Not that makes it valid. lol

Yeah, I spent a week @ Tom Denney's studio and it was Andrew that produced it, I don't know what all that Chad Gilbert shit is about. Maybe they did pre-production with him or something?

I think he has moved since but yeah it used to be down the street in Ocala, by like a Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts, and next to some low class motel.

I don't remember the street name as I'm from up nawth

Andrew Wade tracked and produced everything.

Adam D. mixed it.

Funny thing is:
Andrew mastered a CD I did (for between love and madness) and I asked him for some tips.

He told me that it is a good idea, to but the sm57 like 6inch away from the cab.

Like Adam said in some interview.
Maybe he got the tip from him?

Took the booklet out:

all songs written by a ADTR

Produced by Chad Gilbert and ADTR
Pre-Produced by Andrew Wade, Chris Rubey and Jaison Lancaster on "Have faith in Me"

Mixed by Adam D.
Mastered by Alan Douches

I realy like that the CD isnt that loud. I think it is because of the extreme subs in the breakdowns...
