Hello fellow sneapsters, this is just a rough mix of my song that I'm working on and I know that its nowhere near finished, just I've been working on it all day and think my ears need a rest so thought I'd share with you guys for some advice and get back to it tomorrow with some fresh ears

Guitars and bass tracked through pod x3 and drums are EZdrummer DFH

Any criticism (positive or negative) would be much appreciated :D

EDIT: I ALWAYS forget to post the link whenever I make a thread here...my bad

Cheers dude...yeah I think I know what you mean, listening to this with fresh ears today made me realise how overpowering the bass is in the mix. TBH I'm not really happy with the guitar tone, usually I use presets from other people and tweak accordingly (neeed moar presetzzzz lol) but with this tone I tried to make it from scratch...having a hard time coming up with the sound I hear in my head but its just practice I guess.

I'll take what you said in account anyways, guess I'll have to bring them up a bit or maybe just rerecord with a different tone if that fails...will post an updated mix when I get more feedback

well i thing you should made your own preset that is going to work for you and your song if that preset that you used worked for other people it dosent mean that it will work and for you.and with what pickups did u recored it?if you ask im you sholud bring the guitars more and make them more powerfull they are small and like dying.bring life to them cheers!

Yeah I made my own, whenever I do download other peoples presets I always tweak them to my liking, I usually just get them so I have a rough idea of what to look for in tones (in general of course, theres no 'ultimate' setting for a good tone) but like I said this is the first song I made where the tone was made entirely by me from scratch. Don't know the exact models of the pickups but they are passive seymour duncans. Yeah I'll bring the guitars up in the next mix I post but I think I'm gonna have to rerecord with a more defined tone...

This is just a temporary fix till I can summon the energy/will power to rerecord the guitars again.

Didnt really know what I was doing but I just messed around with some of the JS plugins in reaper to boost the presence in 3-4k area, guitars stand out alot more but the fizziness is also more prominent...regardless it sounds better to me already even if it is just a temporary fix, I'm guessing I should be trying to aim for this kind of presence in the guitars without the use of additional eq right?
