Advice?

What instrument do you play? If you can, warm your hands up and do scale practise for an hour before the set or something. Nothing will fuck up your mentality worse than screwing up a lot on the first song. Unless the first song is really easy. Death and Taxes used to play their easiest two songs first because their guitarist didn't like warming up.

I play bass.

A band with friends, we are going to play a bunch of covers at a party for the girlfriend of a friend who just finished her doctorate degree. The songs are pretty crap but what can you do, it is for her after all.

Set list as it stands right now:

How You Remind Me - Nickelback (I know)
You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi
Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
Final Countdown - Europe (this one is a blast, very funny)
Rockin' in the Free World - Neil Young

Acoustic set while a video will be playing (I don't play those two):
Beautiful Girl - INXS
Good Riddance (time of your life) - Green Day

Fade to Black - Metallica
Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Pretty Woman - Van Halen version
Johnny B Goode - Elvis version (I am not playing this one)
99 Red Balloons - Goldfinger version
Sweet Dreams - Marylin Manson version

also, i recommend taking advantage of the fact that the acoustic set is just long enough to mix with THA LADEEZ without enough time to say something stupid before you have to rush back to the band.

again, as untodd said, confidence is it.

Mindspell, I am playing my second annual gothfest tommorow night, so I shall be rocking along with you bass brethren.

my only tip would be, try wearing mascara and a silky shirt.
