AES/EBU Cable Quality

Hey guys,

Just looking to connect my Avocet and wondering whether the quality of XLR cable used for the digital AES/EBU connection actually matters at all.

Anyone have some experience in this regard? My intuition tells me it shouldn't matter.

aes cables are like a standard xlr cable but with a "locked" impedance of 110ohm, thats why they are special. i would say ive tried a few brands and cant seem to decern a difference.

i would just go with a standard roll of it like any other cable. cables are about impedance, and with these being locked i dont see the point.

Cheers. I found out about the impedance thing shortly after making this post. Opted to just go for simpler S/PDIF coaxial cable instead.

i went the spdif way aswell in my home rig.

from my RME pcie card to my TC Electronic BMC-2.

no hassles.
