FW interface I'm using is not with me atm, and I have a project I have to finish mixing for. I have an old PC with an EMU0404 in it. It has spdif in, and it's a decent sound card. So, here's a question:
If I connect my laptop with EMU via TOSLINK cable - spdif connection out of the laptop and into the EMU card, will there gonna be sound quality loses (the way I see it there shouldn't be tho, since it's a digital connection)?
I really want to avoid using crappy DAc from the laptop even for this hopefully short amount of time, and do DA conversion for monitoring through EMU converters if possible. So, if I do it this way, is that like if I had that EMU in my laptop (speaking sound quality-wise of course)? Are there any quality loses this way?
