Question about SPDIF?

Hey guys quick question would it be possible that i can use the SPDIF on my firepod to track scratch guitar using my countryman type 85... would i just need an SPDIF to xlr cable?

Just wanted to try this so that i can use the 8th channel in my firepod for using it as a room mic instead of using it for guitar in.

SPDIF is for digital, only

You can if you buy a preamp with an spdif output, then your signal would be mic>pre>spdif out on pre>spdif in on your interface

You could also buy any digital guitar effects (like a boos gt-8) and using the digital out....
