Agalloch in Atlanta

Good god!

I've been to the Earl a few times, but never to a show. I know EyeHateGod played there recently, so while you'll have plenty of indie acts coming through, it is becoming a good place for the darker side of metal. The guy who ran the music there was also very nice and open to having a wide range of metal bands when I last talked to him (when I was trying to book Hammers of Misfortune).

I'll very likely be there, and will be the hipster in the back with his arms crossed.

Yeah, back when I was doing publicity for WREK, the booking guy from the Earl was always beyond nice. Probably the nicest out of all the venues in town to be honest. I've only seen 2 shows there -- one post-rock band and one comedian -- but both times everything ran ridiculously smooth. Wish they had more metal shows.

It is the same night. I highly doubt it will effect the Agalloch show since it is two different crowds for these shows. I would love to see Agalloch again but this will be a super late one that will get out at 2 AM on a sunday night....plus I will be in Florida that day.

Yes. You have to choose which Agalloch shirt to wear at the Agalloch concert.

Don't be trying to cause a storm in a glass of water, Simon!

if you go get an extra Agalloch shirt to ebay. They always do limited runs and people collect them. Last time in Chicago they had literally a line of 60 people lined up getting stuff. Most I have ever seen at one time at a smaller show like this.

Good to know. I got my Agalloch hoodie online. Do you think they'll have something new (i.e. exclusive) for this tour?

I just roll with the classic gold-font classic logo black shirt, but I'd love to grab a "Marrow" shirt on this tour. I know people who have spent hundreds of bucks on Ebay for one Agalloch vinyl because of the limited runs.

I envy you. My wife works that day, and she's not a metalhead. She'd hate to go see Agalloch. :(

It's pretty awesome man. She wasn't one when I met her, but she is very open-minded. Every ProgPower I've been to, she's come along. I used to take her to every show, but after Napalm Death, she told me she preferred bands with lyrics she could understand, lol.

I took my wife to see Dream Theater, for instance. She really enjoyed them and became a casual fan. There has been plenty of music I've showed her that she really enjoyed, while some that I was positive she'd like, she detested. I don't mind that she's not into it, she's very respectful and supportive so that's all that matters. ProgPower for her might be a bit overload, but we'll see. Maybe next year (I don't think she'd dig this year's lineup, honestly).

As for your wife not digging Napalm Death, can you blame her? Hahahaha

yeah....they seem to love pressing small runs of stuff for collectors. I am sure they will do this for the tour but I am sure they will sell out in the first few shows unless they do a few different designs. The one they had in Chicago sold out right away actually. They also had some vinyl and other stuff for sale. They were selling like hotcakes.

The bass player for Loss is one of my best friends, so I plan on being at the Atlanta show. He's also the assistant director for my Dragon*Con programming. Ironically, he is going to have to skip a Dragon*Con meeting earlier in the day as a result of sound check.
