Agalloch - In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion - 11:59

I definitely like The Mantle better than Pale Folklore, but I've only had the latter for about 6 months so I can't really make a Final and Unquestionable Decision, as in < > = measurements.

Am I the only person here (besides Jay and possibly Erik) who recognized the genius of The Mantle upon first listen? I'd say that it was better than Pale Folklore under threat of torture, but that doesn't change the fact that PF is one of the best debuts of all time.

I believe I realized it's genius right from the start as well. Unfortunately it faded with time. Last night I listened to part of it while high and it had me nearly in a trance, so I must say that part of my faith is restored.

thanks doom for sending me this, though it's a bit annoying that the last track was full of strange sound distorsion. not that horrible since i'll get a real copy as soon as i can

that is all ;)
Oh, no worries. Sorry about the last track. Didn't play through all the CDs before I sent them. Were the rest alright? But yeah, pick it up soon.

Personally, I prefer Pale Folklore. But it's one of my 5 favourite albums of all time, so it was always going to be hard to beat. But I also think The Mantle is fantastic.

i've only listened to in the woods other than the mantle so far but that one was fine, not sure what to make of it muscially yet though.

what did you think of the stuff i sent you?

I can't imagine that you wouldn't end up loving the ItW since it's one of the best albums ever. I sent you Pale Folklore too didn't I? You should definately give that a listen!

As for what you sent me, I really liked the Finntroll. The rest of their albums are on my wantlist. Autumn Aurora is absolutely fantastic, one of the best albums I've heard for a while. Exactly the sort of thing I wanted. You don't like it though do you? Astrofaes I've only heard once, didn't do much for me. Only listened to the Watain once too, but I'll definately give them both more of a chance! Think that was the lot. Good bunch overall

mjeh, it has potential that's for sure, but right now it feels a bit incoherent, but i will give more spins, definately.

no AA has never really clicked with me, i usually appreciate that kind of stuff but not this it seems, it feels a bit... "plain" is perhaps the word :|

hehe yeah that astrofaes is shite, it's their weakest according to erik, but that's not saying very much really.

(casus luciferi is one of the best black metal albums evar.)

What do you mean that's not saying much? It's their weakest by FAR. I hardly ever listen to it, but "Heritage" and "Ancestors' Shadows" are pretty essential.

hm? i mean it's not saying much since the cd utter crap and therefore it's not very surprising that the other releases are better
