I tried out Exodus (Gary Holts) JCM800 settings on my 50 watter.

JCM800 1983 (50 watt)
LP Studio (stock)
Ibby thrash master (boost)
Sm57
75 celestion

I tried it with my Maxon OD and it sounded too vanilla. The thrash master gave it a lot of attitude.

His amps were modded by Langner so had a lot more gain than a stock one hence the boost.

Settings quote from Gary:

"Oh yeah, JCM 800 settings, let me see. Bass, around 7, mids around 3, treble around 5, presence around 4, my gain about 6(remember, my shit is modded, so they have tons of gain) and master goes to 11!"

hmmm, I like it, but something's missing, like high end/upper mid bite of typical exodus. I was listening to impact is imminent today, and it's almost a grating sound in their guitars.

Actually, this does sound a lot like the tone on the live record "Good Friendly Violent Fun"... nicely done fyn :D
